Well, we have travelled extensively around the world, but why go any further than the Royal Marine Hotel at Brora, especially if the weather is excellent. I will do a couple of comparisons between this hotel and the Dornoch Hotel, as we stayed there straight after, and some of the points raised I thought were very relevant to the traveller...

My Girlfriend and I spent two nights here on an Itison deal, not sure if our room had been upgraded but it was huge and very comfortable. Hotel itself is lovely with lots of history but still feels up to date and well kept, not neglected like a lot of hotels up north. We had dinner on the first night...

We loved this hotel. It was comfortable, Warm, had loads of beautiful old features and full of old beams and wood with big fireplaces. A real countryside retreat. There are great facilities and the staff couldn't do enough for you- extremely friendly. We booked through an itison voucher deal and having looked at the other prices got an amazing deal...

Our recent stay at the The Royal Marine was wonderful. The staff was first rate and very accommodating, even on a moment's notice. The property is older but seems to be well maintained and is quite comfortable -- almost like staying in a friend's home rather than in a hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will definitely return...

For those who enjoy old-fashioned comfort this is a good stop over. The room was clean spacious and very comfortable. Lovely thick towels, lots of hot water, nice soaps etc. In the dining-room there was thick crisp linen napkins, heavy cutlery. The girls were helpful and cheery. The food was rather standard fare but still tasty. This hotel is a...

Stayed at the self catering Links Apartments for 4 nights in March. The apartments are part of the Royal Marine hotel, but 2 mins walk around the corner on a well lit paved road (very quiet road). The apartments all face the sea, glorious view across the golf course to the sea. The apartment slept 4 and was very spacious...

We have just returned from a few days at Brora. We were recommended to this hotel by several friends. This hotel is popular with golfers but is also an excellent base from which to explore the North East coast. As it was low season, we were able to take advantage of a special offer on the internet which was excellent...
