Couldn't have asked for any more.the room the staff the breakfast(delicious) and our Christmas ball......fantastic.The restaurant menu wasn't massive but enough to choose from (wish they did jacket potatoes lol). The bar was very reasonably priced and as you are quite a way from any other drinking houses you are pretty restricted. Would return in a heartbeat.....

We booked for the three day Hogmanay package and had a great stay at Friars Carse. This is an old Hotel steeped in Character with a large open fire in the lounge. The location is superb adjacent to the River Nith and with great views from the Dining room across open fields. Our original room was a little old and...

Stopped here a few times and just got back from a 3 day new year package. Absolutely fab, staff are lovely, the whole place just works, I don't like the new wallpaper in the main lounge area, I preferred the old wallpaper, it suited the environment better. I love the open fire, the relaxing atmosphere. Just booked for next yr...

Food and service was superb.Cottage clean and modern. The Scottish breakfast is 1st class with waiting staff attentive and friendly. The hotel is steeped in history with connections to Rabbie Burns (Scotlands national bard) who had a farm just up the road from Friars Carse and attended soirees...

Booked 2 nights B&B with one night dinner. Reception was very efficient with pleasant staff. Room (Hawthorn) was very "tired" and need of refurbishment with ensuite rather dated - however in saying that it was warm and comfortable enough for the two nights although we had to pile up the heavy curtains to stem the draft from the windows. The hotel...

For a hotel that claims to be "dog friendly" and be a bit huntin', shootin' fishin', the policy regarding dogs is a little unusual and disappointing. I booked only a week prior to staying, through one of the well known sites and was told the next day that I couldn't have a dog in the room that I had booked....
