We spent 2 nights at the Friars Carse as a wedding anniversary celebration and really enjoyed the weekend. The hotel is set in its own grounds close to the River Nith and the village of Auldgirth. It is a typical old country house hotel with lots of timber beams and panelling. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis but...

We had a lovely weekend at Friars Carse. It's set in beautiful grouds, and we were able to take a few short walks around to see it. Our room was on the first floor and was clean and morden, with tradional furnishings to fit the hotels syle. Our bathroom appeared brand new to and from what we heard, it seemed...

Friar's Carse do some excellent deals, the building is magnificent, the surroundings idyllic, the food splendid. The room we stayed in was typical of an old country house, well appointed but still an old room that needed perhaps a bit of decorating. Not complaining though, because the main hotel areas were opulent and gorgeous. Great service, friendly staff, a splendid...

Stayed here for just one night on our way to Craigellachie in Scotland. The hotel has a great location and looks the part from the outside. The lounge area is full of big leather sofas and a big fire place. We had soup and sandwiches whilst waiting for our room, there was there was nobody else there and the bar...

We wished to treat friends to an afternoon tea when they were with us on Wednesday, so telephoned and tried several places for afternoon tea but was disappointed to find that it was too short notice so decided to try further afield. On telephoning Friars Carse, they answered promptly and took the booking and we arranged tea for 3.15pm. We...

Friars carse is a very lovely place to stay and the staff are very friendly. Stayed there on our honeymoon and after that we just kept going. It also have a snooker table which my husband loves - the food is excellent. The rooms are very good and they are all en-suite and very comfortable.

My partner and I have been to the cottage in the grounds of Friars Carse with our two J. R'S which they loved because of the lovely woodland walks. This was the second time and it is a wonderful peaceful place. You are able to eat in the Hotel, just a short walk away, which is olde world and very cosy....

Nice country manor, easily accessible and just off a major route. Room standard was average, drink prices were reasonable and staff were nice. The soup and the main meal were as good as I have had anywhere, Breakfast was was a mixture of cooked and continental. It was easy to walk in the estate and I am sure walkers could...

Heritage house/ castle set in beautiful grounds however we had a pokey room with a tiny window overlooking the bins. Our dull room had no style (lacked pictures, full length mirror). The tiny bathroom had non existent water pressure making having a shower difficult. Stay would have been fine for one night but staying for 2 I found the room...

Had a 2 night stay on the 10th of April with my girlfriend. I thought the hotel and grounds were amazing. And the food was great too!! Overall an excellent experience and good friendly staff. What more can you ask for? Would definitely go again.
