My wife and I stayed here , having noted the great recommendation given by TV Chef, Neven Maguire. The hotel is impressive on arrival, having negotiated Galway's horrendous traffic!!. We were met by Michael, the top hatted doorman. I have a disability and he showed us to a disabled parking bay to make access to the building easier. Well done! Check in was quick and welcoming. We were taken to our room by the receptionist, Melissa who showed us the room and was very pleasant. The room, Corrib View , was large and with a great view of Lough Corrib and the Golf Course. However, the bathroom is really small. It has a shower over a small bath. It does not have a walk in shower which is disappointing in a 5 star hotel. The cleanliness of the room and bath are very good and compliments to the housekeeping staff, with all towels etc changed by the turn down evening staff. I found the bed a little hard and the staff provide a new topper which helped--well done. We had hoped to have an evening meal in the Oak Cellar Bistro but it was not open and was not open during our 3 night stay We had an meal in Palmers Bar which was good and pleasantly served. We booked an meal in the Pullman Restaurant Car the next night . It is an experience! You have a ticket punched on arrival. We were shown to ur table and chose from a limited choice menu. We choose Short Rib of Beef-- not a good choice. My beef was stringy and tough. The server merely shrugged when this was pointed out. Desert was a brownie and acceptable. The ambiance is pleasant but the quality of the food is not of 5 star standard --We booked this evening on the recommendation of TV chef Neven Maguire on his show---the food must have been upgraded for his visit!! I found the food in the Palmers Bar better than the Pullman . Breakfast is served in the River Room, a beautiful appointed area. Breakfast were excellent , with warm cooked to order and good selection of cold food. Staff first class, especially Lilain, a French student . on a gap year. Overall , the hotel is very good but not sure of the 5th star with some modifications it would justify the 5th star more easily

Fabulous - friendly helpful staff great rooms and food. The feeling during our stay was definitely 5🌟 The Pullman Restaurant was a real treat because of the real Orient Express carriage we ate in and the fantastic food and service. A misunderstanding about the bottle of wine we ordered was sorted out without any hassle. We will definitely return.

The overnight Pullman package was extremely good value and what you would expect from a 5 Star Hotel. The staff in both the Palmer Bar & particularly the Pullman were extremely helpful and very friendly as were all the staff in the hotel. The food on the train was excellent and the cocktails were beautiful. The decor and ambience in the Abbey is lovely and just sitting there relaxing in front of the fire was excellent. The Cinema is also well worth a visit. Breakfast was lovely and again staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a fantastic overnight experience and well worth a visit.

Truly , one of our best hotel stays ever. The beds!-my husband said it felt like they were hugging him, lol. The property and location are superb--it is a very short taxi ride to the center of Galway, yet you feel like you are on a private estate that is just so beautiful and peaceful. The food and service is outstanding--we dined at the Pullman restaurant and were blown away by the delicious meal and our server Abu-he had such a great sense of humor and made the night really memorable. Everyone employed there is lovely, but I'd be remiss if I didn't give a special shout out to Phillip and Ru--they both went above and beyond with their service and friendliness. We looked for them each day just to check in and chat. Can't wait to go back and take advantage of the stunning spa and golf facilities.

Our stay was amazing. We were so impressed with how the staff at a fairly large hotel made us feel at home and like it was so personal. Every single staff member was warm, knowledgeable, and helpful. The accessibility was excellently overall especially the room we stayed in, 218. So relaxing, and the attention to every detail in food, facilities, and experiences was impressive. We had dinner in the Pullman and it was a dream. Between us we have eaten in restaurants around the world from New York to Tokyo, and this meal stood out for flavor and presentation. I would even call our stay a “good value” because it was not inexpensive but actually quite reasonable for the level of luxury. They are doing everything at a top level. We will be back!

We stayed in Glenlo recently for one night, to celebrate a birthday, and the gorgeous small getaway did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome by every staff member. They couldn't do enough for us. Our room was perfect and the view of the estate was just gorgeous. We dined in the Pullman restaurant on Sunday and had an incredible experience - the actual train is amazing and the food was delicious - the highlight of it all was the exceptional service - Brenna stood out a mile, she was outstanding and thank you Brenna also for the lovely wine recommendation. Overall, a fantastic stay and would highly recommend to anyone!
