Arrive at 8pm to a posh place for an expected lovely meal. They took 3 n half hours to deliver 3 courses starter mains desert. All lovely dishes though but the wait was beyond stupid. Starters came quick at first then the wait for mains was a good 1 n half. Then ordered deserts and we was loosing our patience... More

I recently visited the restaurant with some friends for early evening tea. It was on a Monday so it was quiet as it was about 6pm. The food was great and not as expensive as I remember it. Also portion size was a bit bigger. Friends had liver which looked great. I had the hake in a creamy sauce. It... More

Visited Van Dyke's recently. Appalling customer service. Arrogant staff. Was informed my choices don't go well together as ordering by what appeared to be bar manager. Pasta dish looked prepared with zero care and staff were stood together talking about customers near the bar. Shocking. Used to be decent place for a meal, new staff and hike in prices have... More

On our return from our vacation in Scotland, we stayed at Hotel VanDyk for one night. The hotel is situated near a busy road where cars can go with 50mph. While the noise was not an issue, since the windows of our room were facing in the opposite direction, walking our dog was difficult. The reception staff was very friendly,... More

A lovely place to celebrate a special event - or just go for a lovely meal. We have been a few times now and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience every time. The very polite and attentive mater'd, the very obliging bar staff and the professional waitresses all work hard to make this a very enjoyable experience. Will definitely be going... More

Have been meaning to visit for a while and tonight was invited to go. This place has a track record as a wedding venue and it feels very much like a conference venue trying to be something better. Menu read well and is quite wide in choice. Food arrived and although well plated it was only ok. Chicken escalope with... More

After some good news, we decided to return to the place where we had had our first date six months previously. And sadly it was a very different experience. The restaurant was relatively quiet on a Friday night as there was a tribute night in another part of the hotel. The waitress was initially very friendly and efficient. We were... More
