We arrived on a rainy day so it was lovely to sit by the fire. NZ 's smallest bar is pour your own which is unique and fun. The food was fabulous and we had the pleasure of Jennifer's company along with the little kitten, Cindy. Thanks for a lovely time.

Thanks for your review and great company. Sorry the weather didn't work for you but at least the open fire was a great trade off!

Enjoyed the ambience of the place. We stayed in the units which were clean and tidy. The evening meal was quite special with a fire burning in the cob fireplace and Jennifer telling us the history of the building.

We stayed at the Tophouse for 2 nights and enjoyed every minute of it- the unique old house, the friendly and personal service of Jennifer with her fabulous cooking, the smallest pub of NZ with the sunniest garden combined with a stunning view and the fireplace talks about the very unexpected stories of this special place.

Quiet, off the beaten track but only a short drive from St Arnaud Spectacular views and a house steeped in history. Such a beautiful place and such a great host. There are rooms in the house but we stayed in a 2 bed chalet which was well equipped and very neat & tidy. Do book an evening meal, the food...

What a great spot. Quiet and peaceful, bathed in history and interesting stories . The historic house was awesome to look round and we had a 2 course home made dinner in the house one night. Delicious and healthy food in the company of the host and cook herself. It was nice to chat and learn about this original place...

We have just spent a lovely night at Tophouse staying in a chalet. We enjoyed a 4 course meal ...the venison was delicious. To stay at Tophouse is a unique experience...history, service, quality, views, and amazing food. Would be a great location to spend a special birthday with friends one day. We loved our brief stay there.

Jenifer and Rosemary were warm and welcoming hosts and shared stories of the hotels history. The meal was plentiful and perfect with turkey, salmon, lovely veges, new potatoes, Christmas pudding and trifle. The guests...

We visited Tophouse as 2 couples on a night out and found 'me-Jenny' (Jennifer, the owner) to be very accomodating and informative. We were given history on the buildings and then had a delightful 4 coursen meal that was delicious. The roaring fire added to the atmosphere but we didn't manage to catch a glimpse of Sydney, the resident ghost....

Honeymooning in style. An open fire, fine dining and cuisine at this historic site that made us feel so relaxed and replete in every way possible. Waited on by Jennifer in our own private dining room with adjacent private facilities was priceless, Heaven. Absolute heaven.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. It's great to get feedback and certainly have customers who make it a point of bringing friends to TopHouse to experience the guesthouse. I hope the rest of your trip went well, despite the weather!
