The room was clean and basic. It had a queen and twin downstairs and two twins in the loft. St. Arnaud is very small, but is quaint and picturesque. The bed was comfortable and the staff very friendly. There is a bar/restaurant attached to the hotel.

Well located in the beautiful Nelson Lakes area. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Very comfy bed. Great view from our room. Bathroom was perfectly functional, although rather dated. The Lodge itself has a rustic feel, and is nicely appointed. We had an excellant evening meal of roast lamb in the Lodge restaurant. Buffet style breakfast was fine, albeit with a...

Very comfortable room with excellent cleanliness. Friendly and helpful staff served a beautiful meal. The hot tub was a superb way of relaxing after a long drive and the manager was more than happy to accommodate slightly early for breakfast so we could catch our ferry.

We were allocated a ground floor room with access to an outdoor sitting area. Unfortunately the sand flies were out in force so the door stayed firmly shut. The room was spacious and clean, though the bed was much too firm for us. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, setting us up for the day ahead. Overall everything you would expect...

I always enjoy staying at the Alpine Lodge and have experienced most of the room options, from family rooms up to Apartments. It is neat and tidy and cleanliness is good. As at Feb 2017 it suffers somewhat from the closure of Highway 1 due to the Kaikoura earthquake. All traffic is being diverted onto the road which passes the...

this is a definite stop. Great food and a good choice of bar snacks as well. They even went out of their way for a small cup cake birthday cake. Great staff and service, one of the best places we ate in New Zealand. 10/10 MUSTDO!

I felt comfortable with the ambience, the lake was awesome, I understand and I have read about the decor which is a bit old, but I think it goes very well with the place, to look for a 5 star hotel and elegant, there are cities like new york, paris. But I only have to limit something that did not...

We spent an excellent night at the Alpine Lodge. The people were professional and efficient. The room was well--appointed and very clean. We love having a refrigerator and microwave. The location was convenient, right on the main road, and yet incredibly quiet. We loved seeing the animals that came to our back patio.

We had one night in an apartment room. The rooms are a little dated in the furnishing and decor department but that isn't really a problem , the main thing is that the room was clean :-) It is a good place to stay - on the main road and with a restaurant on site. We were travelling with another...

The main hotel building has high wooden ceilings, exposed beams and lots of character of an Alpine style in the bar, restaurant and lobby. This is one of the loveliest hotels we have stayed in in New Zealand. The bedrooms are set in a semicircle around the car park to one side, motel style. However the bedrooms all have great views...
