Stopped in Port Hope Simpson while on a motorcycle tour. Had read some previously concerning reviews of this hotel. The town itself is quite simple and nice, nothing fancy so you have to take into account that there's no way you'll find anything five stars anywhere near here, it's just not possible given the location and access. We popped in...

After 380 km of dirt road the Alexis is a comfortable clean and welcoming place. The staff was friendly and helpful at every turn the restaurant at the hotel provided a wonderful meal and a scenic view of the port .The next time I'm in Port Hope Simpson I'll be staying more than one night😊

Given that it really is the only choice in Port Hope Simpson, the owners could have gotten away with less. This immaculately kept hotel with basic rooms is a nice place to stay. It's right on the shore so it is a pleasant place to stop. After 4 or 5 hours on gravel, it seems like heaven.

The Alexis Hotel is a pretty bare-bones establishment. My single room was quite small, the TV was small, and the bed was also small. The dining room was fine, and it offers a nice view of the Alexis River. My room was on the first floor, and you could easily hear noise from the kitchen and hallways. However, considering there...

We stayed here Nov 2015 and were pleasantly surprised by the Alexis. The accommodation, food and staff were out of the ordinary in the context of rural Newfoundland and Labrador hotels. The people who own and run the establishment have an obvious understanding of what is needed in the business. Thorough professionals who treat customers as valued clients. This is...

On my way via motorcycle to Happy Valley Goose Bay on the Trans Labrador and after the first spell of gravel this was a good place to stop and and check the bike over. The hotel is clean and the restaurant is good. More than I expected since there is not much competition in this town. They also have a...

Yuck plus irritation. What is the point in the concept of a hotel reservation if you don't honour it. I book a week ahead and then am not given what I asked for. Instead I was put in the worst hotel room in the place - the front hall!!! NOISY doesn't begin to touch on it. The metal door on...

Port Hope is pretty much the only stop on the Labrador Coastal Drive between Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Red Bay on the south coast. That is a long gravel road, and a rest break is pretty much essential, and they know it. The room we had faced the car park, so was not exactly scenic. It was very basic and...
