This was a fab hotel. We stayed in one of the Lodges and it was beautiful. A big room, big bathroom and everything out could need. The food was fantastic. The staff were great. Great area with lots of historical sites to see. We also did observatory night at hotel and it was great. Saw lots of shooting stars.

We booked through a direct offer £159 for 2 nights b&b 8 course tasting menu plus £20 extra for observatory tickets. We had a bit of delay booking and it took 3 days to get confirmation but we were pleasantly suprised they'd put us in a lodge which should've been an extra £30 a night. On the day we were...

This is an attractive village inn/hotel with a comfortable lounge bar and large restaurant. The lodge accommodation is huge with luxury en-suite. The food was very good and the staff well trained and attentive. It is perhaps not fine dining but they are not charging fine dining prices and overall we had excellent value for money. Our only criticism is...

we went as many people go on a Travelzoo special offer. The taster menu was out of this world and the chef is to be congratulated for his unusual mix of ingredients. We had a minor plumbing problem in our room on arrival in that the thermostat could not be turned down. To our amazement a plumber was found who...

Upgraded to a luxury lodge room, and supplement for staying at the weekend, so paid an extra £100 over the £179 deal price on Travelzoo. Worth every penny! Room & bathroom were luxurious and dinner was magnificent. Enjoyed food & service so much, we ate in restaurant the second night, before visiting the Observatory at the back of the hotel....

My husband and I took advantage of the 2 day BB deal with 8 course dinner from Travelzoo. The hotel had a welcoming / laid back feel with attentive but not overbearing staff - well done, it's a difficult balance to achieve. The room was small, however finished to a high standard, very comfortable with everything we needed and included...

We arranged a deal to stay at Battlesteads through Travel Zoo. The room was very comfortable and we were given a complimentary bowl of fruit on arrival. We too sampled the 8 course taster menu. It was delicious! For breakfast there was a vast array of food and we couldn't fault the service in the hotel. The hotel also provided...

Stayed one night in the lodges - huge bedroom and huge ensuite easily accommodating my partner and I, our 5 year old and springer spaniel. They were wonderful to accommodate us for lunch even though it was after service which finished at 3pm. Dinner starts at 6.30 which was again very good, we both had steak and there was a...

A very welcoming Hotel providing excellent service through a team of friendly helpful staff. We used a Travelzoo offer and found the service was second to none. The room although small but adequate was clean and comfortable with a modern bathroom. The taster menu was a sensory delight, and although the portions were small, as expected, we were more than...

The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient who work hard to make your stay an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately the Californian Merlot (very good) and Australian Shiraz ran out of stock on the day of our arrival, which I found hard to believe bearing in mind the excellent housekeeping reviews posted by previous guests. In addition the bed in our double...
