We loved everything about this hotel from the moment we stepped in. A real Northern welcome! Our room was spacious and the bathroom fabulous - a walk-in shower and big towels. The bed was comfortable and the nights were very quiet. The garden is lovely to sit in and if it's a bit cool there is a cosy conservatory. The...

We stayed at the Black Bull Hotel for 2 nights. The rooms are spotlessly clean, spacious and nicely decorated. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night, and the food was delicious. All the staff were friendly, and happy to help in any way they could.

Pros: The location, the rooms, the food, the beverages, and the staff! Cons: Perfect as is! Location: There are more than a dozen historic sites associated with or along Hadrian's Wall within 20 miles of The Black Bull. We booked The Black Bull Hotel because it was a fairly central location for exploring the Emperor Hadrian's Wall in Northumbria, England....

Stayed here just for 1 night. The staff were warm and friendly and very welcoming from the moment we arrived. The room was tastefully decorated with a nice walk In shower. The bed was okay. Slept well. Evening meal was very tasty and big portions. The cooked breakfast was freshly prepare and of good quality. Would happily stay here again.

We had an early evening meal here with our 2 year old. I wasn't feeling too inspired by the menu but it turned out to be a good home made pub meal. We'd definitely go back. The service though was exceptional. Eating out with an active toddler can be stressful but they were brilliant with her and we were very...

We were staying nearby and having read previous reviews we were expecting something fabulous but we must have chosen a bad night it was just mediocre, the starter of parfait was nice and the chutney was lovely, my husband had steak which was rare rather than medium, I had steak pie the meat was lovely and tender, but the pastry...

The staff at this hotel could not be more helpful! We were not even staying here and they went above and beyond. An excellent representation of a lovely hotel. We would happily stay there next time. 😆

I was lucky enough to win a 2 course lunch for 2 at the Black Bull, so I celebrated my first Mother's Day. The food was fantastic, the starter of potato skins was so big and was so tasty, lovely big Yorkshire puddings, the lamb was cooked perfectly, and the vegetables were all very tasty, the service was brilliant too....

What a fantastic day! The whole family, eight in total, booked for Mother`s Day and what a lovely day we had from start to finish. Service and food was way over expectations, definitely not your average "pub" food. The place was packed yet but you wouldn`t of known, no waiting, hot, delicious food, not one fault to be found, seriously,...

Thank you for taking the time to review us, I am delighted you enjoyed your mothers day with us and couldn't find a fault with the food or service, and of course enjoyed your free glass of prosecco, a treat for all the hard working mothers! It was a busy one but we pride ourselves on providing efficient service. We...
