Myself and an old Friend visited The Fox this afternoon. It was so great to be able to sit inside and enjoy a few drinks and lovely food. It was a late afternoon lunch and the food was beautifully presented, very tasty and served to us very quickly. Our waitress was charming, helpful and despite having a very large party to look after outside in the beer garden she checked back with us very regularly during our meal and for the several hours afterwards keeping us well supplied with drinks and anything else we wanted. We also had the very great pleasure of meeting Carley, the new owner who is lovely. She was very friendly and welcoming. I explained that I live in Steventon and would be back now as a regular. Helen my friend lives in Newbury but comes to Steventon regularly and would also be back. To my fellow Steventon residents I would say give Carley a chance and support her if you can. We have lost The Cherry Tree and it would be a shame to lose another Village Pub. It is a beautiful pub and hope we now get nice weather to enjoy their beautiful beer garden and children's play area. Good Luck Carley and Rob and your great Staff! See you on Monday!

We came here with work for a 3 course christmas meal. The staff were friendly when serving however noone finished any course due to the food not tasting very nice. I am pregnant and ordered a well done steak which came out medium rare, and was supposed to come with chips (which it didnt) ended up paying £31 for this meal and leaving very upset. £31 for a steak that wasnt cooked right and therefore I was unable to eat.

A very friendly atmosphere with delicious food! Staff are lovely and very friendly. Very clean & well decorated village pub. Dog friendly in the bar & outside areas. I would highly recommend for a relaxed lunch or dinner.

We booked a table of 12 for my wife’s 50th with two children. 1 couple stayed at the fox as they had to travel from Watford, we had a sneak peak and the family room was very big. 2 of our group are lactose intolerant and this was no problem when we booked. We were sent the menu with 3 options to chose from, the manager said they had a new head chef which made us cautious. When we arrived we were shown to our table in the snug area. The food was very good especially the ironed flat chicken. The selection of gins was a surprise also as they have over 15 (the best is the Aviation Gin) A good place to celebrate a birthday party. We also took a Sunday lunch menu as we will be back again.

A table for 11, with pre booked meals, told to be here for 7:30 as food would be bought out from 7:45, at 8pm the starters came out, only half had starters. Mains came out in dribs and drabs, last one 15 minutes after the first! Steaks cold, fair enough they did offer to cook another, but far to late for that!!! Sticky ribs looks anemic! No sauce. All in all very disappointed, and won’t be back.
