It's a classy hotel in the classier end of massive Shiga Kogen ski resort area. So classy that it lacks any apre ski options, you have to eat and drink at the hotel and its sister establishment, Grand Phoenix, exclusively. It's a minus if you are into that sort of things. For a family, it matters little, I suppose. Despite...

Okushiga Kogen Hotel is a great place to stay if you're a keen skier. You are located at the top of the valley. You have your own ski area plus you have easy access to the other ski areas. The hotel is ski in and ski out which in itself makes it a great place to stay. You are isolated...

We loved our stay. The island is small and thus the facilities are as well. Do not expect a five star resort, but basic facilities and very friendly people. Walking distance to beaches and the few restaurants.

Wonderful location and great skiing both on and off piste. Had our grandchild with us and found the ski school was very easy to access and he really enjoyed his first ski lessons...skiing between the trees on the third day. The hotel is very conveniently placed for ski in/ski out and the staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms are...

The hotel is at the top end of the valley and has the best snow and few people on the slopes. If you stay here book breakfast and dinner as there is not many options around. The bar prices are high so take a bottle with you.

Okushiga Kogen is the northernmost resort in the Shiga Kogen chain of ski resorts. It's quieter with less people than the resorts nearer the beginning of Shiga Kogen. It is vulnerable to high winds and heavy snow as these are borne from the north and Okushiga is directly in line with bad weather and is the wind shelter for the...

Went on a ski trip with a friend. Thoroughly enjoyed every interaction with the very helpful staff. Bar manager/performer Alan is someone you must meet. Location is perfect for getting on the slopes first thing in the morning to get the fresh pow.

The staff were extremely friendly and took care of us very well. The lounge and the onsen were very luxurious experiences, and the ski in ski out was very convenient. Overall myself and guests are very satisfied and would definetely recommend friends and acquaintances to accommodate here.

Japan's ski resorts are infamous for run down hotels, poor service and a lack of apres ski activities. This hortel is one of two exceptions in all of Shiga Kogen. Belgian general manager Fred Dawance has made a huge impact since his arrival about 1.5 yerars ago. Highly recommended

We had a fantastic holiday at the Okushiga Kogen hotel. We will definitely be back. We loved the hotel sitting area with the fire, the location was amazing, great skiing and a very smooth process for ski hire, storage and getting lift passes made the whole experience quite seamless. The evening entertainment was great fun for all of the family...
