If you want to check out rural Japan, this town is a must. Furusato was a really nice place to stay. It was cozy, clean and comfortable. The only thing was that you can hear people snore throughout the night and bathroom is shared, but that's part of the experience. The lady who greeted us in the beginning was kind...

This is a clean and comfortable guesthouse with English speaking host, so communication was not a problem. We stayed in July and the fans in the rooms made it a comfortable night for us. Dinner and breakfast were included in the stay. Both consisted of healthy, home-cooked, local fare with generous portions, served in their dining room. There is a...

The owners of this lovely traditional guest house are very friendly and funny. A short walk distance from bus station resulted in a very nice experience and a lovely memorable stay at lovely Shirakawago. The dinner and breakfast was tasty traditional with a very nice presentation. Futons were comfortable although the rooms "walls" are paper made so bear in mind...

Such a lovely couple running this guest house in the lovely Shirakawago. The dinner and breakfast were traditional and like many other places we had eaten in Japan, a lot of thought had gone into the presentation. Futons were surprisingly comfortable and warm, especially considering we had a hugh drop of snow overnight. We were able to borrow gumboots, which...

The Shirakawago Tourism Office is very helpful as they will help to arrange an available accommodation based on your budget and number of people in the group, and they helped to reserve Furusato for me. It's quite an experience to spend the night in the village once the day trippers leave and feels as though you have the entire village...

Amazing village, amazing house, amazing food, amazing host, amazing time, amazing view....... If you are into greenery, appreciate nature and culture and tradition, please come. The house has its own story to tell. You are sleeping in the cultured and old and unique house. So much different than all the modernity of our own life. The host couples are so...

Not much of a farm girl, but decided to give Japanese farmhouse (gassho) stay a shot, because we were attracted by the beauty of Shirakawago and I thought that since it is Japan, even a farmhouse would be clean and spotless. There is a toilet and a shower in the house. The toilet looks like something that was added recently...

Awesome experience in a beautiful spot. Was there during fall and the trees were incredible. Hosts were friendly and helpful knowing when to help and when to give you privacy. I've stayed in a few traditional Japanese inns and this one had the best food (breakfast and dinner) that I've had. They have discount coupons for the local onsen as...
