Stayed here for one night in End October. Arrived early around 9plus in the morning and couldn't check in yet as check in was at 230pm. Was greeted by the friendly lady owner who allowed us to leave our luggage first and she introduced us to the places to visit on the maps and also gave us discount coupons to...

We stayed in this minshuku for one night. It is right in the middle of the old village. The owner greeted us a little wary, but that attitude changed very fast. She is very clear on house rules because she maintains an impeccably clean minshuku, with an absolutely lovely (shared) bath. The village is lovely at night and very quiet,...

We stayed one night over here. The room is clean and nice. It's a traditional Japanese tatami style room. After checking in, the owner served us the welcoming green tea and rice biscuits. The weather during our visit was very cold, but the owner had preheated the room. It make you feel at home, warm and comfortable, and the feeling...

Arrival; we got off the bus from Takayama at the same time as a storm, not good, umbrellas were accessible, putting on the rucksack waterproof covers was more difficult. We had difficulty finding the accomodation as one map showed it as number 51 another (given to us by a lovely local lady) showed 49. We should have gone to the...

It was April 1st yet Shirakawa-go still has no sign of spring. Farm houses and side walks are still covered with snow and the surrounding mountain slopes are still snow piled. It was around 10 minute walk from the bridge to Yokichi. When we reached the place, the husband of Saeko san greeted us. She, then welcomed us and advised...

Yokichi gassho-zukuri - a family-owned inn (they call them “minshuku” in Japanese) was our accommodation for one night. Like in any other Minshuku, privacy is limited: no private baths/toilets, the walls are really thin and this was the only place we stayed on our tour to Japan with no wi fi. Not that I'm complaining! The room was a basic...

My wife and I visited Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO world heritage site famous for its gassho-zukuri farm houses and different atmospheric environments across four seasons. The bus ride up the mountains was scenic and enjoyable, as the greenery of forested hill slopes on the low lands gradually transformed into the browns of tree trunks and barren branches against the snow-clad highlands....

The village was so very magical that when I woke up on the bus, having just arrived in Shirakawa-go I actually "gasped". It was snowing heavily and we were pretty worn-out by the time we got to Yokichi but they were very friendly and welcoming. They even were able to lend us snow boots to go and explore the village...

We stayed here for one night. Situated in the heart of shirakawago. The room was a good size but there was no sitting area so we had to sit at the table. We had dinner in the main dining room and watched japanese tv which we didn't understand but you get hooked with all the graphics and the people. The...
