If you come to Sydney and you are a backpacker are living the life... come here to Kings Cross, you will have fun because the night outs are great. The Hotel in intself is bad. But you will survive of course. Go some place else closer to the city center, near central station.

Rejuvenated backpackers, gone are the bunk beds replaced with new furniture, if you hate TV this place is for you as the place had no reception throughout. Other wise clean rooms and great but quiet location

I stayed here several years ago but feel I still need to write this review. Very long story short, I was planning on traveling to another part of Australia after Sydney but I was running out of money so I stayed in Sydney for another week. My first hostel was beautiful and a perfect stay, but our reservation was up...

Arrived there and it was abandoned... Paid deposit and everything. Had to stay in a hostel across the road. The 'Funk House', a nice place. They didn't even email us. Please do not book this place as you will be left clueless in the street like us.

The rooms here are bigger and and more well equipped than most other hostels in the area for the same price. The music in reception is always great fun! It's also pretty clean most of the time and in a fantastic location for bars and clubs in kings cross

I stayed here in an 8-bed dorm for five weeks in Mar-Apr '13. +: rooms cleaned daily, clean bathroom, speedy and hassle-free check-in, a lot of places to chill out and do a fat lot of nothing, some good characters running the place (one of the ladies working there was a real sweetheart, never caught her name but I remember...

We spent 3 nights here and we were so happy to leave. Worst hostel experience we made during our trip in Australia. The saved money (compared to other hostels in Sydney) had to be spend later in Port Maquarie for some ointment as my girlfriend was bitten all over by bed bugs. Luckily all Swiss have an army knife, so...

Not quite sure how it is possible that there are any positive reviews on this hotel? Must be the owner sending them in him/herself?? I stayed here with a large group of friends, staying in a number of different rooms and room types. My room a "family room" was a clear definition of neglect and laziness by the owners and...

Dilapidated hotel, located in the "red" district of Sydney : The bedding was stained A strange smell in the stairway Mould in the bathroom The free breakfast is only a slice of bread and butter. Forget everything else, especially cutlery, glasses, cups. We stay 2 nights in this hotel and, hopefully, no one more

I stayed at this hostel from September 2012 through to January 2012 and I loved every minute of it. Definitely the place to be if you want to meet people from all over the world and have a good social life. Laurence is the manager and he made us feel so welcome, we felt like family when it was time...

Staying in Kings Cross

Neighbourhood Profile
Kings Cross
Changing liquor laws are remodeling "The Cross," Sydney's red light district. These new rules have encouraged trendy cafes and boutiques to pop-up in the area, as well as organic markets on Saturdays. The area's nightclubs are still popular with youngsters, however, who will dance to the early morning hours on weekend nights. There are plenty of artifacts from Kings Cross' shady past when gangsters and liquor houses owned the place. Today, one can still find a variety of adult entertainment venues in this evolving area.

“Aim for somewhere on the lower floors: the lift can be pretty slow and going up the stairs with heavy luggage is killer!”

“Besides the lousy quality of the hotel, it is located in a dangerous area (brothels, drunks, drugaddicts, etc.). Looking it in the map seems to be the right choice (close to Botanic Gardens and Sydney Opera, but not in the centre) but once you stepped in the Darlinghurst street you realize your mistake!”
