I loved the uniqueness of this wood structure. The inside is as wonderful and creative as the outside. The family style dining with home cooked Japanese food was wonderful. I enjoyed sitting with & getting to know other travelers & the warm, delicious & plentiful food. Our room was spare with a bathroom down the hall so this place is...

We enjoyed a very pleasant 3 night stay in this homey, rustic, traditional Japanese lodge at Asahidake Onsen. Our tatami room was small and basic but the "bed rolls" on the floor were very comfortable and cosy. The shared toilets and washing facilities were spotlessly clean. The outdoor (unisex) rotemburo was a beautifully situated rock pool overlooking a stream next...

Very kind owners, excellent food and fun atmosphere. One couple said they were the "Token Japanese" as everyone else was from other countries. Great outdoor onsen bath. Basic rooms with shared bath area in cabin area. Supper hiking near by. And be careful of sulphur fumes up on the mountain. Well worth the ropeway ride to the tallest mountain in...

Words cannot adequately describe how pleasant this quaint mountain hideaway is. Great hosts, large rooms with views and best of all a stunning rotemburo right next to a mountain steam under a forest canopy. It is worth making a bit of effort to book this one, we enlisted help of the Higashigawa tourist information services. Asside from the obvious trip...

A unique lodge that is the perfect antidote to the big, impersonal chain hotels we also stayed in. The owners have an understated but friendly manner, and it is a real treat to be welcomed into their 'home'. The location is excellent (walking distance to the Asahidake ropeway), the indoor and outdoor onsen were the best we visited in Japan,...

Fantastic lodge. Amazing structure, design and interior. Great location, excellent food. Highly recommend. Outside onsen with creek running directly behind it. Picturesque. Great walks in the area and near to national park.

Great wooden lodge, rooms in Japanese style: tatami, futons. Two beds a bit higher of the ground, still futons and room enough for other futons on the floor (children). This lodge has a great outside bath (rotenburo), that can be shared as a family. Owner is very friendly, into musical instruments. Speaks a bit of English. Played some nice games...

We stayed here in early August upon recommendations we found online from other hikers. The location of the lodge is very close to the ropeway, it's a short walk so you don't have to drive/pay for parking. It was great to be able to get an early start. The lodge itself is quite quirky, filled with woodwork and other idiosyncratic...

Everything was good about this very cool unusual Japanese lodge. The wood interior was beautiful. The food excellent. Even with so much interesting stuff inside, the place was typically Japanese spotlessly clean. Was easy to find once in Asahidake. Wifi worked well.

Lodge Nutapukaushipe is run by Napa-san. He is a nice fellow passionate about his woodwork and food. You must call the Lodge to reserve a room, which we did and had no issues booking by phone. To access the Lodge by public transport, it is reasonably easy. From Sapporo, take a train to Asahikawa Station - a very modern station....
