This was one of the best Ryoykan we have stayed in. But be aware that you will be sleeping on the floor - even piling up four futons/thin mattresses still leave it pretty hard. Everything else was great - the ambiance, the friendly staff (mixed English, but enough), the food - extended Japanese style breakfast and dinner. We stayed two...

We walked for 3 days on the Nakasendo Trail and stayed here on our second night, following a stay at minshuku in O-Tsumago (which we also enjoyed). Fantastic service, starting with the driver who was at the train station when we arrived to the staff who managed to find a gown large enough for my husband. The outstanding features here,...

This was our second stay at this inn, whilst walking the Nakasendo. We had the rooms on the top floor with views to Mt Ontake, which are spacious and clean. All of the staff at this hotel are exceptionally helpful and warm, from the desk staff to the restaurant staff. We stayed 2 nights this time, to have a rest...

We stayed here for one night in early November while walking the Nakasendo Way. This was the only Ryokan we stayed at during our 13 night trip to Japan, and was a great experience. The service from everyone was first rate whether that was the gentleman who drove us to and from the station through to the ladies who served...

We did the Nakasendo walk and stayed here on the second night. The indoor/outdoor onsen was a great way to relax after a long day of hiking. The room we stayed in was large, comfortable and everything we needed. The traditional kaiseki dinner was amazing. They had a complimentary star-gazing tour after dinner that we attended which was a great...

While Kyoto remained green, we were able to enjoy really nice fall colours. The onsen, esp the one outside is pretty. Dinner & breakfast were feasts. The room was big, with attached shower & toilet. Getting to the ryokan from Kiso Fukushima is easy. Walk across the street to the tourist info centre & they will call the ryokan. The...

This Ryokan is the best out of our 5 days 4 nights Nakasendo Trail hike package with Otku-Japan. The indoor and outdoor onsens were really therapeutic especially after a 9hr arduous trek from O-tsumago towards Kiso-Fukushima region. They are very willing to come and pick you up from the train station if you give them a call beforehand and let...

We stayed just one night here on the second day of our walk. We had missed the earlier train which two of our companions had caught, so did not arrive at the station until 6.03 p.m. where we were met by a car and driver from the ryokan. We were brought in a lift up to our room and our...

We arrived at the Kiso-Fukushima station with the 15:32 train. To our surprise the driver waited for us and there was no need to call the Ryokan. The trip by car took around 10 minutes, so we just sat back and relaxed. Our luggage waited for us already there (we used the excellent service to forward our luggage from Tokyo)...
