After receiving glowing reports about Kunugi we booked for a week in February and had a family room with loft/mezzanine bedding and large bathroom with spa. despite appearing small the room was exactly what was needed and provided separate areas for the teens. The spa pools were easy to access and always spotlessly clean. The staff (owners) provided impeccable service...

Well appointed, excellent food, friendly and responsive customer service, relaxing onsens -- all told, we had a fantastic two night stay. We stayed in one of the suites with private bath, shower and jacuzzi attached. It was beautiful and the bed was very comofrtable. We enjoyed breakfast both mornings. Our first nights in Hakuba we had stayed in town closer...

Kunugi is a small family owned guesthouse conveniently located in Echo Land, only 100m from the closest ski shuttle bus stop. You can catch a direct bus from here to 5 out of Hakuba Valley’s 10 resorts that can be used on the same lift ticket. As the resorts are not connected (apart from Goryu Hakuba 47), it is more...

Thank you for your stay. I also thank for valuable opinions. I also suggested you another room (twin room with high ceiling) You refused. In the winter season, we also stated on the reservation site that we collect heating fees. I also explained during the checkout. We had the utmost of hospitality, but I am disappointed with your evaluation.

A quirky traditional guesthouse that is set amongst the trees near Echoland but only 100 metres from the bus stop so super location Some fab eating joints nearby - the gyoza joint with the huge draught beers is a standout!! Lovely outdoor onsen couples can share ( private bookings) and a very helpful host ... he will make sure you...

Our family of four stayed for a week on a half-board basis; the service and food was superb. The host helped with everything from ski lift tickets and gear hire to recommending which resorts to visit (we skied at Happo-one, Goryu/Hakuba 47 and Iwatake) depending on the weather conditions. Kunugi's chef is very talented and her food is outstanding -...

There is nothing that I can add about the actual facilities that hasn't been said in other reviews. They are 110% on the mark. This place is almost unbelievable in how great it is. What I'd like to add is information about the actual owners of Kunugi.... My son and I came to Hakuba in mid Feb to ski for...

This was an absolutely fabulous hotel! My wife and I have traveled to Hakuba four years in a row and this was the most remarkable location we've stayed to date, not that any were bad. The most outstanding feature of this hotel was the breakfast and dinner that came with our room rate. I'd highly recommend purchasing the "half-board" option,...

Fantastic, completely under-rated boutique hotel. We spent four days here in early January 2016 and could not have had a better ski holiday experience. The place itself is in a charming wooden lodge, located reasonably close to the local bus stops and the rest of Echoland. The interiors were modern, immaculate and extremely comfortable. Highlights: (1) Food - the kitchen...

Kunugi, a nicely decorated wood house, really delighted us with warm hospitality and meticulous service! We were really surprised by amazing food, a French-style with touches of Thai/Asian accents, perhaps one of the best we ever had for this type of accommodation. You can book your own private small onsen room. Within less than five minutes walk to the main...

We are a young mid 20s couple and we stayed in kunugi for 8 nights. The ryokan itself is immaculate. So clean and tidy and very traditional looking, which adds to its charm. The rooms are cosy and warm and have everything you need. The property has 3 beautiful private onsens (which is a massive bonus!!!). One inside wooden small...
