Expected the bed to be better, but was okay. Pillows were too soft and small, had a bad sniff neck after a few nights that was extremely painful. Room was much smaller than I expected. But overall love the hotel vibes, decor and onsen was...More
This hotel is more popular with Western tourists so you don't really get that Japanese pension feel and it's pretty big so a lot of people staying there- lots of Aussies and all their children....it's like a regular romper room with all the families.
For our first stay in Hakuba, we stayed at the Mominoki Hotel. It was a wonderful choice. Fantastic location - 10 mins (depending on your experience with walking in ski boots!) walk to Evergreen Outdoor Centre and a short bus ride to the Gondola and...More
I just can't say too many good things about this hotel. The only reason I didn't give five stars is while our room was comfortable and warm, it was small (expected), a little dated and it had a post fitted modular bathroom unit which further...More
I went to Hakuba for one day ski and stayed at Mominoki for one night. In general, this is a decent boutique hotel, but comparing to other ski hotels I visited in Japan (ie Niseko), Mominoki is average.

Rick ... no idea. The problem was more the fact that you had a couple hundred people fighting over the limited facilities - a problem exaggerated by the broken machine when we were there in January. Better bet is to go to the coin laundry - located up the road from the train station. More machines, more room -- and like we did, you can anchor your washing around either some dinner or some shopping (supermarket in walking distance + shops like Patagonia). Its a taxi ride to get there and back, but it all works.
