We really enjoyed our experience of 6 nights at Ryokan Sakaya whilst skiing at Nozawa Onsen. Our room was a suit of rooms, tastefully decorated and spacious, with a seperate bedroom and western beds, and a large bathroom. The living area featured an art work of kookaburras which we felt was not by accident in order to make us feel...

We stayed here for 4 nights in February. We came to Nozawa primarily to ski. If you are coming to Nozawa to ski, I would suggest looking at another hotel closer to the lifts - however if you are looking to experience Japan and its culture with a bit of skiing, then stay here. The reason I suggest staying elsewhere...

This is our second stay at the Ryokan Sakaya, and it was a wonderful as we expected. This visit, once again in ski season, was with a family of 3 rather than 5. The traditional rook with tatami mats and futons wasps expected. We were pleased to be on a high floor and on a corner, to enable good views...

We are a family of five and stayed in January for a week's skiing and boarding. We've never been skiing to Japan before, so were looking for a traditional Ryokan experience. The whole experience was amazing and we'll definitely return... The Ryokan Sakaya is perfectly located - only 2 minutes walk from the Chuo bus terminal where your bus from...

I stayed for 3 nights with friends. Despite the fact that Nozawa was a small village, the hotel was surprisingly modern, well furnished, and provided great food and service. The rooms were spacious and immaculately kept. Toilet amenities and tea making facilities were available. I loved the hotel's onsen as well as the footbath provided at the main entrance. The...

Those who are new to the ryokan will like Sakaya as they are able to provide non-smoking rooms with Western beds, attached bath & toilet, while also provide the full ryokan kaiseki and onsen experience. It has a private onsen bath that you could book if you are feeling nervous about bathing with strangers (there are separate baths for male...

We stayed here for a taste of traditional accomodation and life. We had a deluxe tatami room. It was very spacious for 3 of us, a small foyer, bathroom then one huge tatami room and two smaller adjacent rooms. As a result, when some were sleeping, others could close the screens and stay up. There was a fair bit of...

Wonderful old style Ryokan not far from the Yu Road access to the ski fields. Helpful staff who couldn't do enough for you. Beautiful onsens both segregated and for private use. Dinner was terrific, breakfast pretty good, the Japanese style rooms immaculately kept. Quite expensive but you pay for what you get at this place.

A lovely hotel and as expected, super friendly staff. We arrived in the middle of the night to a warm welcome and an efficient check in. The hotel is well located, close to the "Main Street" and a short uphill walk to the ski lifts (via a coffee shop). Facilities include a good sized drying room and laundry. The hotel...
