Visited Club Med Tomamu for 9 nights. We are a family of 3; 2 adults and a 4 year old girl. Overall we had an amazing experience and would highly recommend this property and ski resort.
Booking Experience: This would be where this property loses some points. The Club Med online portal, whilst easy to navigate, seemed to show private ski lessons that were available, but when you tried to pay, would not process them. When contacting the property they were very prompt and helpful, but due to some Club Med rule, we had to call the Australian booking number. I did this twice and was told my private lesson would be booked, but then was advised they were not able to book the lessons a couple of days later. Thankfully, the onsite site ski school was super helpful and made it all work and to be honest where much easier to deal with that the Australian call centre. Otherwise the booking experience and contact with Jennifer of the front desk team was great. Nothing was too hard and all responses were quick and any questions addressed. For anything on site, like station transfers, bed configurations etc, Jennifer was amazing in arranging for us.
Arrival & Room: Upon arrival Jennifer met us and gave us a great intro to the property, how to register for the Mini Club, where the restaurants were, ski room and overall property information. She also showed us to our room. We stayed in a Junior Family Superior room. The room was well equated, clean and set up well. Whilst the SQM of the room (42) on the website might seem small, the rooms are spacious and they have done well to make the most of the space with a large amount to storage for clothes and ski gear. The beds and pillows were great. I found the mattress perfect for us. It was firmer, which we prefer and there was 2 options of pillows. Bathroom was functional large enough to accomodate shower/bathing our daughter. Water pressure and hot water was good. There were plenty of towels and more could be provided if needed. Only downside to the room was that no face washers/flannels were provided. Only large and hand towels are provided. This was only a minor issue and did not take away from the room quality.
Food & Beverage: The included restaurant was very good. Yes it is an all inclusive property with a buffet, but it is a huge buffet with a great variety. On top of that the chefs and kitchen team provide daily specials to mix it up. This includes options for children and adults. Yes, after 9 nights, I would say I was getting a little tired of the buffet, but that is no reflection in the variety and quality of the food. All the kitchen and staff are very friendly and nothing is ever too much. And the soft serve never grows old! Outside the set dining times (07:30 - 09:30, 12:00 -14:00. 18:00 - 20:30) there was the bar and theatre where you you get a tea, coffee, cocktail, beer etc basically any time from 09:00 unit 23:00. There was also morning and afternoon tea and pre dinner snacks. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
MiniClub: We enrolled our daughter in the all day MiniClub and lessons. On your first night, you will register the child with the MiniClub - you need have an honest view of your child's skiing ability - they can always move you child up if you underestimate their ability, but don't over estimate. The team trust your view and assign a class/group accordingly. The lessons were of between 6 - 10 children, which is standard for group kids lessons. They are set up very well with each ability level having its now ski and boot area. Each child is allocated a locker for helmet gloves etc - although we chose to bring those back to the room each day. You have the option of leaving your kids on the club all day, having just lunch with them or having ski with them. We mixed this up through out the week. Our daughter loved her lessons and the down time in the club. Although the youngest in her group, she made friends and always had a smile on her face. There is a seperate children's dinning area when they remain in the club for lunch. From what we saw, the food was on a par with the main restaurant and when we saw he having her snacks, there was fruit and plenty of healthy options. She certainly never complained about being hungry! The greatest part of the MiniClub was the ski lessons. From day 1, where we met Julieanne(Jellyfish), we knew our daughter was in good hands. Julienne put her at ease and for the rest of the week, all we heard was, 'I want to see Jellyfish'. Julieanne and Gert, did an amazing job teaching our daughter the skills too improve and give her confidence, to the point where she is now carving her turns and is confident on blue runs. Yes, each morning there about 20/30mins of organisation at drop off, but overall, the MiniClub is well organised, the food is good, the care of the children is excellent and ski lessons are as good as you would get anywhere in the world.
Private Lessons: I booked several private lessons for my wife, who is an intermediate coming back from injury. Besides the booking issues above, the ski school is great. On arrival, Jennifer had arranged for the head of ski school (Jason I think, but have forgotten his name) to met us and talk through what we had requested and within an hour had booked in Ben S for my wife. He was great - he gave my wife the skills and confidence to come back form her injury start to smile when skiing. So much so that by the last day ski wanted to ski more, which is a first! She also had Gert, for the last day and she was great as well. It was the first time my wife had skied in powder like we had and Gert had her confident on blue runs in boot deep snow.
Rental Equipment & Ski Locker: We did not rent any equipment. the Ski & boot lockers are good with space for 2 - 4 sets of skis, 4 sets if boots and helmets. However, our ski locker was very cold. It was close to the exit to the snow door, so not sure if that impacted the boot dryer/warmers. The boots were very cold and tight after the first night, which I have never experienced before. I am not sure of the boot dry/warmers were working or the fact that it was close to the door was a factor. After the first day, we took our boots back to the room and they were dry and warm each morning. Minor issue and did not impact our trip.
Tomamu Ski Resort: Tomamu is a lovely small resort with something for everyone. There are 2 ski areas that are connected by a double chair and green run or village bus. The village/tower ski area is very much for beginners/intermediates. There are 2 lifts, one being a detachable quad. Besides the wide open green runs, the blue runs are short and not particularly challenging. There are a few black runs, which resemble short mogul runs if that is your thing. There is some tree skiing, and worth a try, if you have the skills. But unless there had been a big dump, there is not a whole lot to ski. On Club Med side of the resort there is 2 detachable quads and an older 4 person gondola. Besides wind hold on a couple of days (one of which was a nasty blizzard and no one would want to ski in that!!!), they run the whole time. I note previous comments on the Powder Express being down for a week and yes, that would be frustrating. This side though has longer and more challenging options to the village side. The runs as a rule are wider and whilst converge in the same area, there is plenty of space and if all lifts are running we saw lines of no more that 2 - 3 minutes (also there is a singles line that seemed to be an express line to the front!). Again, being a smaller resort lapping the green and blue runs will get boring for an experienced skier. The blacks are steeper, but are also moguls like the village. They are groomed after large falls, so worth getting on them early on a powder the day. They great part of this mountain is the tree skiing - yes you need to register on the app although I did not see this policed at all. The tree runs are well marked and roped where needed. The snow here does get skied out, although not to the point where you can not find fresh stashes the day after a dump. It is also a good entry point for those wanting to try tree skiing - there are smaller and cleared sections providing a good starting point for those wanting to try the skiing. There is also plenty of tree areas to test your skill and find fresh powder. Overall Tomamu ski area has something for everyone. It is a great family orientated mountain with a decent lift system and low crowds. Whilst it would become a little boring for those looking for long steep and deep runs, after couple of days, it is a great place to experience all sorts of runs and improve your ability. It was very good for a family. Would be perfect for first timers or intermediates wanting to take that next step. Whilst not the snow fall of a Niseko, there was plenty of quality snow across the whole resort. I do love the Japanese under reporting of falls - it would says 2 - 3 inches and it would be at least foot! We were lucky enough to have snow fall for 4/9 days and got at least a foot if not 2 in one of those falls. One tip, they groom the Exhibition Run everyday at 12:00 - definitely worth timing a run there after the grooming. Some if the best runs you will every do!
We did not experience the village, however did try the Mina Mina Beach - the largest wave pool in Japan. The pool is very clean and easy to access and use. The is not much to the wave pool - but is nice after day of skiing. The hot tubs were good. But the highlight is the Kirin-no Yu outdoor spa. Hot, open air and completely silent, an amazing experience not to be missed. There are 2 separated by sex and is a traditional naked Japanese spa/Onsen like experience. My wife took our daughter to the female one and she loved sitting in the warm spa as the snow fell around her. I highly recommend this experience.
Conclusion: Club Med Tomamu is great. Lived up to and exceeded all expectations. Yes it is all inclusive and you certainly don't get an authentic Japanese Village experience, like say Nowaza Onsen, but what that lacks is made up for by the high quality of the Club Med property, the staff (Manager Geoff is everywhere, everyday!), the fact you don't have to worry about anything and the nice ski resort. If you want long runs, steep and deep and lost of black runs, this is not your place. But if you want a great family ski experience for all abilities, with enough options to ski, rest or play, then Club Med Tomamu, is worth a visit.

This trip at Club Med Tomamu is unforgettable! First of all, I would like to thank Mayor Zack and Doris, Anna, Kana for their warm welcome and careful care to make our accommodation and event experience exceptionally comfortable. From the moment they enter the resort, their friendly smile and attentive service make people feel full of welcome, whether answering questions or arranging activities, their professionalism and enthusiasm are impressive.
When you come to the village, the welcome drink makes you feel warm, and from that moment I fell in love with this place. Every meal is memorable, and the variety of dishes is not only rich, but also very delicious, so that I can travel around the world and enjoy the tastes of various countries like in Tomamu. Whether it’s exquisite Japanese cuisine, intense Italian pizza, or rich Asian flavours, you’ll have an endless experience. Especially the dessert area of the buffet, the shape is beautiful and delicious, so that people can't resist to take a few portions each time. The dining environment is spacious and comfortable, and the service staff is very careful, always pay attention to the needs of guests.
Ski courses are even more amazing! The instructors are not only professional and patient, but also give detailed guidance according to the level of personality, so that we can make great progress in a short time. From basic actions to advanced skills, each lesson is arranged very rich and fun. The facilities of the ski resort are also very well-equipped, the cable car is running smoothly, and the snow path is well-maintained, so that you can enjoy the pleasure of skiing. Even beginners do not need to worry, because the coach will carefully guide, so that people are both reassured and happy.
In addition to skiing, the recreational facilities and activities at the resort are amazing. From hot tubs, gyms to evening shows, the choice is diverse and fun. Every performance gives a sense of the attention and vitality of the GO team, and the atmosphere is very joyful. There are also snow bikes, ice fishing and other activities, which also let us fully feel the charm of the winter.
Overall, whether it's services, dining, or activities, Club Med Tomamu is immeasurable. Every detail here is filled with attention, so that even after leaving you will remember that wonderful time from time to time. This experience was amazing, and I really recommend it to friends who love skiing, enjoying food and relaxing holiday! If there is a chance, I will definitely come back and look forward to the next meeting!

I feel compelled to leave this feedback as we are currently staying at this resort, and unfortunately, our experience has been disappointing. We had high expectations for our stay, especially given the premium price per night, but there are several aspects of the resort that have fallen short.
First and foremost, there is absolutely no outdoor space to enjoy. While we understand that this is a ski resort, the complete lack of outdoor seating or areas to enjoy food and drinks feels like a missed opportunity. The resort seems to only provide outdoor seating in summer and removes it in the winter, which is incredibly frustrating, especially for guests who come to a snow resort expecting to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere. It's not just a matter of aesthetics; the resort has so much potential, yet there’s no effort to create a lively, welcoming outdoor experience. Skiers and snowboarders love the outdoors, so it’s perplexing why this aspect is being shut off.
Additionally, we’ve experienced repeated disruptions with the gondola. In our six days here, it has closed five times already. While we understand that safety is a priority, there have been instances when the gondola was closed for very mild winds (such as 4 km winds) and perfectly clear conditions, which has been incredibly frustrating. We specifically came to this resort for the mountain experience, and these repeated closures are severely impacting our stay.
Another issue we’ve encountered is the lack of dining options. There is nothing to do here after hours, and the atmosphere inside is very claustrophobic. There is no way to open windows in the rooms, and it feels like the only option is the buffet or restaurant. While the food is certainly a highlight of our stay, it's not enough to make up for the lack of activities or areas to relax outside. The kids' activities are great, but there’s nothing for adults to enjoy, which makes the overall experience feel unbalanced. If you aren’t on the slopes, there is absolutely nothing to do here—it’s boring and uninviting.
One of the most disappointing aspects of this resort is the wasted potential at the top of the mountain. The space and restaurant up there are beautiful, yet it feels like they aren’t being utilized properly. There’s no outdoor seating, no food options, and no real vibe. It's an area with incredible views that could be so much more—why not add outdoor seating, fire pits, or casual dining options to create a more vibrant, engaging experience for guests?
We truly hope the resort takes this feedback to heart and makes improvements, as we want future guests to have a much more enjoyable experience than we have had. While we are not ones to leave negative reviews, we feel strongly that these issues should be addressed to better meet guest expectations and make the most of this beautiful location.
Sadly, given the many disappointments, we will not be returning to this resort in the future, nor will we be recommending it to others.

This is my third visit to a Club Med resort, but unfortunately, it’s been one of my worst experiences. On just the first day, I already feel regret and want to leave.
Club Med is never cheap. While food is included, gear rental costs significantly more than at other resorts, and hiring a private ski instructor for two hours can set you back 60,000 yen. I chose this resort for the convenience of leaving my child at the kids' club while I hit the slopes. I fondly remember my time at Sahoro, where the staff encouraged us to enjoy our dinner without rushing, even staying late to help us with gear after our late arrival.
Kiroro was also impressive, but being closer to the airport meant we had no issues there. Tomamu, however, is a different story. Our pickup was scheduled for 5:45 PM, which felt poorly planned given the two-hour transfer to the resort. We arrived at 8 PM, just in time for the General Manager's introduction and a tour by an instructor—both of which felt necessary but time-consuming when you arrive at 8 PM.
After finally hiring private instructors, we headed to the rental shop, where we faced long lines due to the influx of visitors. By 8:50 PM, we were starving and asked if we could grab food while they finished preparing our equipment. Unfortunately, we were told to wait as they would closed at 9:15 PM.
We finally got our gear at 9 PM, but my husband had to rush to the locker, and I had to hurry to the kids' club to register our child. We arrived at the restaurant just as they were cleaning up, but thankfully, the local chefs were kind enough to serve us despite our tardiness.
When we finally reached our room, it was nice but lacked sufficient electrical sockets—hardly ideal for a modern family with multiple devices. To make matters worse, the remote location has no shop for essentials like adapter extensions or chargers. Now, I have to plan a trip to the nearest town to sort these issues out.

This is my third vacation at a Club Med resort, and like always, they delivered an amazing experience with minimal effort on planning or reservations. Club Med Tomamu in beautiful Hokkaido offers a hassle-free ski vacation with everything you need.
The spacious, clean rooms are larger than typical Japanese hotel rooms, and the convenience of ski-in, ski-out access is unbeatable. You also get free access to a shared hot spa at a neighboring resort, perfect for unwinding after a day on the slopes.
Dining is another highlight, with three buffet meals daily featuring a wide variety—from sushi and steak to burgers and pizza—plus unlimited drinks.
The most incredible part is their ski team. They help you find the perfect gear and offer excellent ski and snowboarding classes for all levels. A huge shoutout to my snowboarding coach, Braca, who guided me through the mountains, cutting through trees and chasing powder—a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

I think it’s important for travellers to have all of the info before travelling. Positives- good entertainment for the kids, good access to lessons (although see negatives on lessons themselves), good healthy options and very good size rooms for families. Negatives. The website states no additional costs and everything is included. This isn’t true. Transfers- not only cost extra but are extortionate prices ($100 per person), ski ($100 per person per day), pool table (extra cost), nest bar (extra), any trips (extra). There only 1 restaurant (the other restaurant in the hotel is extra cost and difficult if not impossible to get a reservation). Meals can only be described as chaotic and at the end of the trip I couldn’t face going to the restaurant. The door opens to the restaurant and it’s a mad rush of people in. There are cues for everything which means you may get vegetables but then wait another 10 mins for steak and another 10 mins for chips or rice. Sickness- everywhere. Which I can only attribute to the buffet and meal environment Lessons- significantly over booked. Our kids had between 10-12 and even 20 other kids on one day meaning they asked to not go to lessons as they only got to actually ski 1-2 times during the lesson, the rest was waiting around If we had paid a medium payment for the trip then I would have said it was good. But this was a premium rate, advertised as high level service and experience and it’s simply not value for money. It should be priced at the level that it is catering to So that people are getting value for money. We paid 23k for our trip with a further 3k due to ski and transfers! It is over priced! We booked an excursion on one day and the next day our daughter and son were very sick and they only gave us 50% of the money back, despite it only being booked the day before. FYI- Baby sitters are advertised- this is not available. We asked and were told no! My honest review is that if this was priced appropriately then it’s a nice trip, but it is not a high level experience and should not be advertised as such. It also needs to be clear about the add ons as these are extensive and in fact everything outside of the room And buffet is extra. I have not commented on the actual customer service booking experience which was awful and I see many others commented on that, but again it is an intermediate booking service and not aligned with the advertised high level that club med promise. We experienced low response, inadequate information, significant lack of follow up and care.

This was my first time staying at Club Met for 3 days and 2 nights, but the staff were all friendly and helpful, and I was able to enjoy a lot of activities that I don't usually get to do.
The meals were buffet style, and I was impressed with how delicious everything was. The tiramisu was especially great.
For activities, we tried trapeze, tennis, mountain biking, archery, and many more. In particular, Tawan, who taught us archery, was kind and friendly, and Miyuki, the tennis teacher, gave us careful and easy-to-understand instructions, so we really enjoyed ourselves.
The guest rooms were also very stylish with their stylish colors, and we were able to enjoy the great outdoors from the large windows, which was very comfortable.
I would like to stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful time!

We recently had the chance to experience Club Med Tomamu, and it was a fantastic ski holiday! Located in Hokkaido, Japan, this all-inclusive resort offers a perfect mix of adventure, comfort, and exceptional hospitality.
Skiing & Snow Activities The ski slopes at Tomamu are perfect for all levels, from beginners to advanced skiers. The resort provides ski-in, ski-out access, making it super convenient to hit the slopes right from the hotel. The powder snow in Hokkaido is world-class—light, fluffy, and ideal for skiing and snowboarding. For non-skiers, activities like snow trekking, sledding, and ice skating are available as well.
Accommodation & Facilities The rooms are modern, spacious, and well-maintained, offering stunning views of the snowy mountains. The resort itself is beautifully designed, with warm, and cozy atmosphere. There’s also an indoor heated pool and an amazing Japanese onsen (hot spring) to relax after a long day of skiing.
Aoy, Housekeeping manager and her Assistant, YuPa and her team are very kind. Our room was immaculate during the whole stay.
Food & Drinks One of the highlights of Club Med Tomamu is the all-inclusive gourmet dining. The buffet offers a wide variety of international and Japanese cuisine, with fresh seafood, sushi, ramen, and even Hokkaido’s famous soft-serve ice cream, you name it. The open bar with unlimited drinks and cocktails is a great bonus! Don’t forget Jack who is an amazing GO (Gentle Organizer) at The Nest Bar. His hospitality is truly remarkable.
Entertainment & Activities Club Med is known for its fun atmosphere, and Tomamu is no exception! The GO team is energetic and friendly, organizing daily entertainment like evening shows, games, and parties. For families, there are excellent kids’ programs and ski lessons with professional instructors.

It's been five days back, let's summarize: this trip is truly unforgettable and a good memory for a lifetime!
Being able to travel to the snow country has always been my desire, after staying in, I can walk through every corner to discover some layout ideas, and sometimes with snow pictures make people feel relaxed. (While there is no time to sit in the hallway and see the snow and drink coffee every day, sitting in the massage chair watching the night's snow, it is comfortable to almost fall asleep.)
Every day, besides looking at snow, is what to eat today? Going to the restaurant will first meet the GO teams that help disinfect the hands, sometimes they will also meet Mayor Zack, they will all greet with a smile: Good Morning or how to spend today - from the morning the mood is very good!
The resort is a bit away from the famous attractions, so there is also a package of village tours, thanks to the manager Doris recommended a wide range of shopping and ice fishing trips, so I got home with accompaniment gifts to cross, fished fish, ate fish and played snowflakes, and the memory loaded more laughter.
In addition to the daily meal, also very looking forward to the performance after dinner, is currently very shocking to go and even the mayor how to pull out the time in the busy work to train? Even the air flyer can also be the ski coach of the day (eye earthquake), these shows are laughing to explode or the mouth open to shock! We also thank GO Anna and Kana for asking us about the experience of the day after the performance, knowing that I fell after skiing and gave a lot of experience to share, super warmth! Whether you meet Ida in a boutique store or a restaurant, Jean will talk about daily feelings.
This time choosing SB as a start-up for skiing, I was lucky to meet a great coach Paul (not sure if this is the case). Jake.Eddie, from the first day they didn't abandon me and finally could go to the mountain, grateful to cry out! Recommended beginners must go to class, correct ideas and physical application or need to be professional, can get on foot quickly!
Finally, thank you very much for the excellent team led by Mayor Zack, making me happy every day in the village! YOU GUYS made my wonderful days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, when you book your trip with them, there will be an option item for you to select if you need any shuttle service, New Chitose airport is one of the places the service covers. But like you mentioned, it is not complimentary, it is with a fee.
"Remember to put on warm clothes before heading to Mina Mina beach. It's really cold to run over in shorts! Bring dry clothes to change before returning back to the resort"
