Big resort which its only selling point are their 2 hot springs located in caves, both of them with views to the sea. Other than that, we found the hotel lacking and the overall experience slightly disappointing. Double room was spacious and we have no complaints about it. I wanted to reserve a non-smoking room, but weren't given the choice...

You reach the hotel only by about 5 minutes boat ride. It is huge hotel with some Onsen (Hot springs) outside and inside. The buildings are a bit old, but clean enough. The hospitality is excellent, whichi reminds me of traditional Japanese style hotel "Ryokan". Some foreign tourists must hesitate to try Onsen. But once you have tried, you must...

The 浦島 onsen hotel located in Nachi Katsura is a special onsen hotel which specializes in the cave onsens. Our normal Japanese styled room was around 47 square meters which consists of a resting area, a 4-bed tatami area, a small resting room, and a bathroom with toilet and bathtub. The beds provided in tatami style was rather hard and the...

We visited the area and spent 2 nights. The double room was a good size, with a separate bedroom and sitting area for having tea. The bathroom was a bit dated with a small sink, and the only other drawback was the limited counter space in the bathroom. The beds were comfortable though a queen or king was not available...

This hotel has seen better days and needs lots of work. Despite this it's still worth a visit because the staff are wonderful, helpful, friendly... the 4 onsens are remarkable.... and our room was spectacular, with vast ocean and cliff views... you can sleep to the ambient sound of waves on the rocks.

This hotel complex is located on a beautiful peninsula, only accessible by a small ferry. Two onsen baths are located in a cave and offer outstanding view over the sea. Unfortunately the fairy tale stops here. As soon as you get into the main lobby you realize that you must share this location with more than one thousand guests! Corridors...

We stayed two nights. Be sure to state your preference for a non-smoking room if that's what you want. We were assigned a beautiful ocean view room but it seems all the rooms is that section were smoking. So they graciously moved us but to a smaller non-smoking room over the ferry dock, with its scheduled diesel noise. The tatami...

We drove from Shirahama to Katsuura via Kushimoto. The car park was just next to the highway - not too difficult to locate. Shuttle bus was readily available to send us to the pier when we arrived. The ferry was crowded but upon arrival we did not have a too busy feeling (as the hotel is huge, obviously). Pity that...

The arrival at the hotel is not the best part. You receive preliminary information to park your car quite far from the hotel in a reserved car park. From there, a small shuttle bus, not really convenient if you have large baggages (which was our case since it was a 1-night stop along our 3-weeks journey in Japan), brings you...

Although not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. I opted to upgrade to the "Sanjokan" building, which is on top of the mountain overlooking the ocean. The view was unreal. Dinner was buffet style and quite good. The onsens were not crowded and easily accessed. Wish I could have stayed more than one night.
