Magnificent lodging in a storybook village. Unbelievable view from our large balcony. Only downside was that ceiling beams in Apt B were a mere 6 feet (1,8 meters) above floor, so I had to stoop for a week (and still bumped my head badly once).Otherwise, it had the best appointed vacation apartment kitchen I've ever enjoyed (buy groceries in Murren... This was a simply wonderful place to stay. A friend and I spent 5 nights here in July 2016. We were both struck by how clean and well maintained the place is. We stayed in two different rooms during our stay. One had a lovely kitchenette (Apartment B) and a fantastic view from the balcony. The second (Room #6) had... More

Our family group of 13 (7 adults and 6 children ages 9-14) rented the three rooms on the top floor (all with private bath) and one room on the second floor with a shared bath. We stayed 3 nights in July. In the mornings, we secured fresh eggs and milk from a local farmer and cooked breakfast in the second... More

Esther's guesthouse was beautiful and clean. It has a shared kitchen where you can cook and in terms of location you can continue up the mountain on the gondolas to see other villages and the schilthorn at the top (revolving restaurant, great views, where James Bond 1969 was filmed) which is amazing! Esther was helpful and also offers a washing... More

I love Esther and her Guesthouse. She runs this place like I run my house. Shoes come off when you walk in the door (she offers house shoes where you leave your shoes) clean up after yourself...if you don't, you get called out on it! I appreciate that in Esther. There are so many things I loved about this place... More

Esther warmly welcomed us again to Gimmelwald which is a heavenly spot in the Bernese alps. This time we had the attic room with ensuite bathroom that was very peaceful and comfortable. Loved the breakfasts!! They set us up for a full day of strenuous hiking. We appreciated the free pass to the swimming pool in Murren too. Thank you... More

This was our second trip to Gimmelwald (and Esther's) and loved it just as much as the first time. Our hikes definitely took more time than noted on the trails ~ especially Obersteinberg. The views and multitude of different flowers were amazing at every turn. Once again, Esther made us feel like home. As this is her year of retirement,... More

This place is in such a beautiful location, and Esther and her staff keep it very clean and up-to-date. It is only a short walk from the cable car station, and she offers a very good breakfast for an extra charge (sign up the night before). We ate at Esther's one morning and took the cable car up to Schilthorn... More

Esther was very helpful and the room was very clean and warm with a lot of wood and stone. The breakfast was good and I purchased a sandwich lunch 'to go' both days. The baths were clean and nice. I would recommend and would not hesitate to stay again. We enjoyed wine and cheese on the front porch. The only... More

Our family of 5 stayed at Esther's Guesthouse for 2 nights in July. Our room was clean and comfortable and the shared bathroom was very clean. The shared kitchen was well-equipped. We enjoyed our stay and only wished that the clouds had lifted so we could have seen what is undoubtedly a spectacular view!
