We found Relais du Chateau searching the web for a few days in the country before a week in Milan and arrived after an international flight and an easy 90 min drive from Malpensa. We have traveled in Italy many times but were blown away by this gorgeously renovated property and the surrounding charming, historic village. We stayed in the...

After a very long drive because the sat nav took us off the motorway for no apparent reason, up a mountain and down again, we were delighted to find a beautiful medieval town at the end of our journey. Casa Illica is a lovely 19th century house just near the medieval square, it was just fantastic. We had the butterfly...

We are so glad we found Relais du Chateau (formerly called Casa Illica) in Castell'Arquato, a delightful hill town just off the A1 near Parma. Located a few feet from the town square, the hotel has private parking and is exquisitely furnished with all modern amenities plus some lovely artifacts appropriate to the house's unique history. It used to belong...

A stunning historic house which has 5 amazing bedrooms.....the lyricist for Puccini lived here & wrote La Boheme and Madame butterfly here! We had 2 adjoining bedrooms which meant we had a separate kitchen & living space....plus a garden & hot tub! Castell'Arquato is a beautifully restored old village and Gabrielle (Michelle) is not only a charming hostess but full...

Members of my family rented the hotel for the local wedding of my niece. Michele, the owner, made sure that we were taken care of in every way. She was so organized that she helped the bride think of things she had not thought of and made sure that all of us had everything we needed. She provided a delightful...

My husband and I only have amazing things to say both about the property and the owner. Michelle was great from the day we met her one year before our wedding. She helped us with everything from suggesting wedding vendors to making sure we had our privacy by reserving the private veranda along with our suite. When we arrived after...

We enjoyed our three day stay at Casa Illica and were treated to a tour of a cheese factory which makes Grana Padana and a factory which makes a special kind of cured ham called Culatello. We also could some remarkable wines including Georgioni, which is made in the style of Amarone. Overall, it was a very nice stay with...

Having just returned from a wonderful week with Michele at Casa Illica, we're finding that we are still day dreaming about being there. The whole experience of being in Castell'Arquato and Casa Illica more than surpassed our expectations. Before we even checked in our host Michele invited us for pre dinner drinks in her beautiful little garden at the bottom...

I was so impressed with everything! The rooms and the views are amazing! Michelle, the owner made sure we had everything we needed and made our stay incredible. The surrounding areas are beautiful and the town quickly became one of my favorite spots on my trip. The history of the house brought more value to my experience.

We spent three nights at Casa Illica this September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Casa Illica is located in the old part of one of the villages quite rightly ranked among “i borghi più belli d’Italia”, quaint Castell’ Arquato, which is within easy reach from Milan and yet off the beaten track. It is a historic house with only a...
