I booked this as a quick end of the week break and wanted a cosy place with atmosphere rather than a soulless hotel. From the moment we walked in the staff were excellent, the room was clean and comfortable. We chose to eat in the bar/restaurant and the food from the artisan bread to dessert was superb, absolutely top drawer....

I booked a night for my partner and I, and from the moment we arrived, was absolutely enchanted with the building, location, attention to detail and the quality of the customer service. We were in room 4, which whilst sympathetically modernised, retained period charm. Refreshing to see such care and attention to detail has been lavished. Despite original sash window...

The fire was well lit when I went downstairs for a few beers and to eat. The menu had local produce and had different choices from most of the pubs i had eaten in recently. I opted for the braised beef cheek with mashed potato, it was delicious. This place can het busy so best to book. There is a...

I have had dinner and stayed the night at this establishment twice now - so I have seen thoroughly every aspect of its offerings. I do not exaggerate when I say it is one of the best I have ever visited. The fare is very high class - both supper and breakfast - but the real gem is the wine...

Decided to go for Sunday lunch as it's always been fantastic. I was a little worried if we would get a table without booking in advance but there was no need to worry, the restaurant was empty with only one table reserved. Now whilst the roast beef was OK it was not a patch on previous visits. The desserts were...

Myself and my partner, had a 2 night mini getaway from London leading upto the Easter weekend. We had a spacious double room with a large en suite bathroom. The room itself was lovely, and we had pre-booked the breakfast. The breakfast area, was already set with continental options and the freshly cooked option was quickly available. The food was...

Long time since we last visited The Angel. Rear courtyard looked stunning and makes you wish for the warmer nights. Staff are very friendly and helpful. However, food was average, not bad but nothing to get exited about. The service was very slow. Ok we were a group of 11 and you don't expect to be served quickly but it...

Pretty Suffolk setting. ordered off the bar menu, food was excellent. Very quiet day as it was a monday, service was very good. Very tasty burger and chips. visited in teh summer but will definitely be back when the weather turns cold as the pub lends itself to winter cosiness.

First, the bedroom - nicely renovated, but challenged by excessive heat (even with radiator off), requiring a 3:00am re-engineering of the window to get some airflow. Bed was 'jelly like' in that if your partner turns over you can't fail to notice it! Bathroom was 'intimate' to say the least. Second the food - very gastropub, with a touch of...
