The lodge has extensive grounds where there are kangaroos, koalas, pademelons, wallabies, possums, colourful birds and a variety of other animals. The highlight of the stay is the daily 2:00 walk with a enthusiastic zoologist who shows you the wildlife. The lodge is very comfortable and the staff welcome you in a relaxed and very hospitable way. The food is...

Sanctuary for people and animals in Otway Park. First the location is perfect for all animal lovers, the Shayne nightly walks are educational, fun and full of beauty. Shayne is like a walking, live Google on the land, animals and sky surrounding Otway Park. I feel such a connection to the land after spending time at the lodge, hope the...

We saw Koalas and Kangaroos up close and outside our rooms. The Tiger Quolls are fantastic and to see them at close quarters is a privilege. Also fed Sugar Gliders honey and stroked the poteroos. Stayed for 2 nights and it was the highlight of my holiday. Shayne's dusk walks are not to be missed and I learnt so much...

We came to Great Ocean Lodge to do the extra work for the Koalas ($300 +) which was ok, I'm not sure how worthwhile, but we learned something and felt we helped a little. The room was very spartan, the lounge downstairs was not comfy as the furniture was old and lumpy and did not invite lingering. The food was...

We stayed here, together with our children age 6 and 4, for 2 nights and it was absolutely great. The surrounding nature and trails are beautiful; lots of kangaroos and koalas all around, and all proceeds go to the animal preservation efforts, which is amazing! A special thanks to Karlijn and Steve for the great cooking and the amazing care...

This is my favorite memory of our trip and a MUST SEE! If we ever return, I want to stay here for a few days. There are a bunch of kangaroos on the protected property.
