We booked and prepaid three nights of a stay at Chateau Quarante. We booked a two and a tree person room. The three person had only two single beds and the children had to squeeze the night on them. As we arrived at the castle we had to go through approximately 45 min of a lecture that the owners don't...

Hello Members! A special friendly BONJOUR to our Canadian cousins from France to Canada where German born Anonymous Member Eike lives. All owners of Chambres d’hôtes will readily agree that critics about their property and/or amenities, unpleasant as they might be, should always deserve attention and can be helpful in order to improve themselves or to tackle some needed changes....

The Chateau is a beautiful house in the small village of Quarante. The setting is spectacular. However, the stay was spoilt by the way the owners treat you: 1) Klaus comes across as a lovely man when he first greets you. I never got to meet his wife, but on the webpage it says they run the place together. Through...

Bonjour Members ! Whenever we receive an enquiry or a request for reservation, at first sight, we truly appreciate people like Carmen: inquisitive, thorough and precise. Unfortunately, it can all turn sour when the loads of information we have given through 11 emails exchange, a very aggressive recorded message on answering machine followed by a 25 minutes insulting phone call,...

My family and I had a wonderful nights stay at the Chateau back in August. The hosts Klaus and Nicole were a delight and very welcoming. The rooms were excellent, food amazing and overall a great experience for us all. We feel privileged to have experienced time with Klaus and Nicole in their wonderful home. For those who wish to...

We spent one night at Chateau Quarante while holidaying in France and I can thoroughly recommend it. It was a very last minute booking and the hosts Nicole & Klaus were extremely accommodating. In fact I would recommend a visit to this place if only to meet this charming pair, they exude kindness and are so welcoming, we felt like...

At Chateau de Quarante you will not be treated as a customer rather you are an opportunity for the owners (Klaus, the German Basil Fawlty, and Nicole) to make money. I naively paid everything 2 months in advance including a supplement for my daughter. A month before our trip I informed Nicole that my daughter was no longer coming. When...

Guests’ reviews (positive or negative) can be enjoyable and are often instructive. Since nobody is perfect, we particularly appreciate those giving us a friendly and realistic assessment of their visit in our home and can honestly give us an opportunity to improve our activity of Chambre d’Hôte (not Hotel). After 23 years of activity, it could very well be that...

The Chateau is in a lovely setting and first impressions are good, although the "gardens" are somewhat neglected - the grass was brown and dry, worn to mud in parts so it felt rather barren. However, it soon became apparent that there were some antiquated "house rules" which included a midnight curfew, no front door or room keys and the...

Oh Yes! Indeed, the grass was (still is), brown and we deplore it too. However, Jenny seems to forget that we have suffered the hottest Summer in 137 years in France with temperatures around 32°C/35°C (89.5°F/95°F) for weeks on with heat waves at 37°C (98.6°F) and severe drought without rain since last April in the region. This led to extremely...

This beautiful chateau took my breath away: the furnishings are lovely; the rooms peaceful and elegant; the music played during dinners soothing, jazzy, and perfect for relaxation over a good meal. And the grounds! A lush assortment of trees and flowers line paths surround the house and are perfect for a quiet walk. Enjoy this home. Take in the surroundings....

Words can’t describe our time at Château de Quarante September of 2014. To be there with Nicole and Klaus, our hosts, is to be bathed in the warm light of a beautiful home, wonderful food, and the most delightful of company. Nicole is a hostess who is not just charming, but brighter than bright, someone wise and knowledgeable about the...

In the fall of 2014 my wife and I, along with another couple, stayed at the Chateau de Quarante while we investigated the Languedoc region. The location of the chateau made it easy to reach each of the areas we sought to visit with a short ride. Klaus served as our driver and guide and proved to be very knowledgeable...

This is a beautiful chateau in a quaint small town that I have recommended to many friends since my stay last October with 3 other people for the private tour program.
