This place is magical. It sleeps ten people and, no matter how many in your party, you get (and pay for) the whole place to yourself. We shared with friends of ours and really enjoyed it. The lodge, itself, is in the middle of the Kibwezi Forest - truly in the middle of nowhere (a good 25-30 minute drive from...

We visited Umani Springs in January 2017 with our four children (ages 5-11) and had the experience of a lifetime. The Sheldrick wildlife trust rescues young elephants who are orphaned by poachers, predators, or other reasons and cares for them. When you stay at Umani Springs, you get to interact with the elephants three times a day, when they are...

This is the most amazing place to stay. The camp is situated in the Chyulu Hills National Park and is like an oasis in the middle of nowhere. The standard of accommodation is exceptional and the staff that look after you during your stay are fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble for them. This is a self catering camp but...

Stayed three nights in early June 2016, there were just two of us. Stayed in room #1, there are several cottages. I thought the entire place was very beautiful and well maintained. The staff was great, we had the most interaction with Peter, the manager another Peter the chef, Lefty and Juma. We were well looked after. The beds were...

I visited Umani 2 years ago, before the elephants had arrived. This year they had 11 elephants at the stockade. These elephants need special care because of their physical and emotional scars, and the Kibwezi Forest provides a bit more gentle environment. The 'cottages' are beautifully appointed, and I particularly enjoyed the shower and toilet under the stars. I wanted...

Umani Springs is the most ideal place for peace, serenity and elephants. I spent 3 days there - just me and the then 9 elephants in the herd (now there is 11 of them). The decor is beautiful. The layout outstanding. The feeling of home and comfort made me not want to leave. It is self-catering in a way that...

This place is heaven, nothing more to be said. I did not want to leave. From the decor, to the ambience, to the comfort, to the silence. Exquisite for a private group with excellent attentative service. The chef cooks healthy, meals, not extravagant but good flavor and fresh ingredients, he will make anything you desire. The rooms are beautiful, sheets,...

I have just returned from a truly amazing trip to all the DSWT re-integration units. I have volunteered with the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's UK office for sometime and have previously visited the Nursery, Ithumba & Voi units before but this was my first time to Umani Springs. Don't be fooled by its name, this is no 'camp'. The accommodation...

What great building design - three bungalows around a Balinese inspired pavilion-style main building. We had an outdoor shower (amazing) and a lovely room with a sitting room. The outdoor dining pergola is lovely, as is the pool, the hanging chairs under the fig tree and the dining areas. The staff do the most amazing job with the food and...
