I can only agree with the previous reviewer. The most basic of all the accomodation on our trip - would say backpacker standard and was a bit alarmed when I saw the gaps in the floor boards for the mosquitos to come up through. - but the staff were very helpful, and kind and made a bread and butter sandwich...

I was disappointed when I first arrived as the "resort" is at the side of a small road. Nestled between the road and river is the covered patio, which offers dining tables and chairs, and a few lounge chairs, overlooking a wonderful spot on the river. There are wildlife photos on the walls and coffee, tea and water are set...

This place was great- nice little room, big open restaurant overlooking the river, friendly staff. The set meals provided as part of the package were really good- nice big portions and tasty dishes. We had an amazing time on the river cruises- think we were lucky, but in 2 outings we saw pygmy elephants and a wild orangutan, literally the...

Worst stay during our week in Borneo! Here are the reasons: 1. When arriving, the told us that we could only pay cash, no credit card as the machine was not working. After a 1.5h discussion, that ruined the evening and several attempts trying to reduce the price by excluding evening and morning cruise, finally they agreed to drive to...

Barefoot Sukau Lodge or BSL is just simple in style and has comfortable bedroom and clean bathroom (this matters most when you are looking for 'accommodation'). Got it's location in the best part of the Kinabatangan River, very great view from its restaurant- that serves local dishes with a lingering taste, probably cooked with a happy heart. Provides services that...

I booked a 3 day river safari through a private guide, this was the accommodation chosen for my party of 5. We had 3 bedrooms with comfortable and clean beds. Each had a basic but clean onsuite, with toilet, sink and shower, although the water pressure wasn't very strong it was hot and the bathroom was clean. All windows had...

Great guides like Hamit. Friendly service. Huge variety of nature to discover.... We even saw over 40 pigmy elephants. The morning calls of the covkerel is all part of the experience... Accommodation is very basic but as a birder/naturalist that is all yo need.... A good bed and hot water....and free coffee and tea. It would be nice if the...

We arranged our single night at barefoot at very short notice (called the day before) so didn't have much time to research. As it turns out, we were OK and had an afternoon on the river and an ok if noisy nights sleep (bloody cockerel needs to buy a watch). Heavy rain could also make a lot of noise on...

Went with my mum to see some Jungle Wildlife and it was great. Mum wasn't entirely happy with bathroom/shower, but apart from that found the place excellent. The river cruise - probably the main/only reason to spend a night in Sukau - is amazing. The guides are friendly, talkative and excellent at spotting wildlife. Actually there is more or less...

“If you are a light sleeper, remember to bring earplugs - there is a fruit tree above the rooms. When I was there, it dropped fruit (maybe rambutan?) on the tin roof all night - what a noise! Also, there is a switch on the verandah to turn off the porch light - otherwise the room is very light at night.”
