Second of our riverside Lodges. The staff here were so accommodating, and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks especially to Ann who helped when we needed to go to the local hospital. Lots of birds around the lodge and a troup of Macaque Monkeys, which are comical to watch.
Stayed here for 2 nights. Not sure if we were spoiled by our previous nights stay at sepilok nature resort but the accommodation fell short of expectation. The staff were very accommodating however, we felt like we were imposing on our first day as we were the only guests in resort and there was so much building work going on .To describe the place as a building site would not be an exaggeration . We decided to sit by the pool for an hour in the afternoon however the noise from the building work was awful and only stopped when it started to rain so had to switch off the power tools. Our room was huge with a ceiling fan which was fine as the evenings did cool a little. We also had a huge walk in shower.Whilst we were there for 2 nights we did not have a maid service so the room was not cleaned and the towels were not changed which I found odd. There was no seating area in the evening ( maybe the building work will address this) so we stayed at the table where we ate and the bar closed at 9pm very promptly which again seems very odd, I appreciate we are in the jungle but we did not complete dinner until around 8.30 so 9pm bar closure was a surprise . The food was really good and we are pescatarian and the staff made sure we had something we could eat. Whilst the accommodation was a disappointment the guided river tours and the guides were absolutely fantastic and these absolutely made the holiday. Our guide was Zaimi and he was very knowledgeable and good at spotting the wildlife and the river trips were an absolute highlight of our holiday.he spent most of 3 days with us and went out of his way to come into the airport and help with the baggage drop. Zaimi is a credit to SI tours hope they appreciate him! In relation to the building work, Once completed it looks like the resort will be much bigger and more access to seating areas etc so next year I’m sure it will be great. It was just a shock and disappointment as we had not been forewarned about the building work.…
Good quality riverside lodge. Food is nice in the main. Drinks are reasonable. Staff are friendly. Rooms are basic, but clean and functional. Overall quite good. Would recommend for a couple of nights
We arrived here after a 40 minute speedboat ride from the Abai Jungle Lodge for a 2 night stay. Secluded eco lodge of stilted semi detached bungalows & chalets connected by a series of treetop walkways. Rooms were basic but comfortable with ceiling fan & a decent en-suite shower. Early morning & late afternoon canoe safaris, accompanied as always by a knowledgeable guide. The river & surrounding jungle area provides plenty of opportunity to spot wildlife. Food is served buffet style in a relaxed dining area in the main lodge. A delightful surprise was the swimming pool hidden away in the gardens, a great place to relax & wind down in between the safaris.
If you are looking for 5* western style you are in the wrong place. However, if you are looking for a great location, clean but basic, lovely people and a real feeling of being in the rainforest then you won't be disappointed. Don't expect all round wifi coverage and all modern amenities, but just enjoy the tranquility and the smell and sounds of the forest. If you can't live without your phone/tablet this is not the place for you! We loved it.
