Spent 5 nights in Mabul water bunglows for diving in May16. Sadly, the visibility under water was not great and the health of underwater world was getting worse. Corals and fishes were far less than what we saw few years ago.The worst part was the noisy groups from China, they shouted from one room to another. When snorkeling, they tended to step on corals in order to take photos, which was very sad and annoyed to see. I think the resort should have told the guests the basic manners to other guests and especially to the nature, that might help to sustain the survival of both the resort and our precious underwater world. Apart from that, the resort was perfect, food was good. But we will pay more attention when we pick accommodation next time
After visiting the rainforest we wanted to spend time in a nice resort for my wife to enjoy the resort and the snorkelling and for me to go diving. Should have paid more attention to the other reviews. In the end to is all about expectation and value for money. the latter lacking totally. Resort: beautiful setting, but feels very very tired. totally unacceptable for the price. Construction is on-going and creates the unavoidable noise. As mentioned the resort mainly target Chinese tourists and they have their own ways Rooms: good space, but basic. We were facing the island so we had the sound of the electricity generator there. Non-stop. Internet is as good as non-existent. The bed is very hard and not comfortable Food: very basic buffet style 3 times a day. Totally catered for…
Water bungalows were great, I stayed in 209 with my bother and it was spacious and well appointed. Out side deck is a good space, storage is good, Wifi is a bit hit and miss and there could be a few more channels on the satellite TV but thats about it really. There is a mini bar with a few beers/drinks and snacks and you get two large bottles of water daily.. My brother did the Open Water with Efran who was just great. I dived with Jovy (DM) who was knowledgeable and keen to please and point stuff out. My bother and I both dived with Deniah and she was just excellent. In fact we rated all three. ! They make sure you get to see all the reefs treats - the small stuff was not my bag, but there was a lot to see. The variety that you get at this resort between Sipadan, Mabul and…
Our time at Mabul Water Bungalows has now become our favourite vacation to date. The scenery is just like a postcard, the service is incredibly good with all the staff prepared to go the extra mile for you, the food was great and plentiful and the diving was world class. Just google this place to see what you're in for - it's the same as the photos. We literally can't sing enough praises about this place - it is heaven on earth. And quiet. And not many kids. And no busy night life. It's diving and relaxing - both at the highest standard. We were in room 212 which looked out onto the sea which was great. Any of the rooms along our side of the resort will offer the same view but be careful of right next to the resort toilets because it always smelled a bit funky most days. Just…
My husband and I come here a few of years ago, so this is not a review from a recent visit. Since then we have been to the Maldives and Caribeans, the Red Sea, although you can't compare like for like of the trips, we still talk about the stay at Mabul Water Bungalows as our favourite island/diving experience. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The bungalow rooms are spacious and clean, has a back verandah with steps where you could go straight into the ocean for a swim or snorkelling. Their buffet meals were delicious, always had fresh seafood and lots of variety. The small beach on the island has fine light coloured sand, with aqua blue water. You can explore a bit around the island too, the view at sunset was stunning, so even non-divers have a lot to enjoy. …
