We had a wonderful week staying in the brand new gîte of Château Papounan. Stéphanie and Jean-Luc are wonderful hosts and made us feel at home! The gîte has everything you need and is very tastefully decorated. Stéphanie makes dinners upon request, I highly recommend this, very tasteful and varied French cuisine :) The location is just perfect, in the middle of the Wineyards of the Médoc and only 40 minutes driving to the beach. We had an amazing time!

We enjoyed a week plus stay at this lovely home. Stephanie and Jean Luc were very kind and hospitable hosts - made us feel very much at home. We enjoyed the morning breakfasts, visits to nearby vineyards and beaches - and Stephanie gave us lots of tips on where to go, etc. The best part of the stay were the long summer evenings in the garden, and their cooking - always fresh, light and delicious. The only minor downside was it got pretty hot - as we had the large suite upstairs with 2 bedrooms because of the kids - and we stayed there over a very hot week. But other than this - i wouldn't hesitate to go back there again!

Spent a night here as part of a big birthday celebration. We were glad it was only one night. The late check in ( 5pm, which we were aware of), was really inconvenient and it as definitely a 5pm sharp. We were travelling as a family and we have a 18 year disabled adult son, which always makes thing more difficult. The house and room were really good, but the hospitality could have been a lot better. We were travelling from 3am the previous morning, so we were all really tired and wanted to chill out in the room. Being in one of the world's most amazing wine regions, we decided to treat ourselves to a great bottle of wine which we wanted to enjoy in our room, alas the room didnt have a corkscrew or glasses. so we contacted the owner who suggested we drive 2km and get a glass of wine in a bar nearby. Maybe I'm being petty here, but surely a corkscrew isn't too much of an ask ? After a bit of DIY bottle opening and a plastic glass we sat on the sofa chatting, there was no TV or radio in the room. Our 20 year old son heard a faint knock on the door at 10.03pm, so we thought the owner had arrived with a corkscrew (better late than never), but my wife opened the door and was informed 'there are other people staying here' (ie, we were apparently making too much noise), we were slightly flabbergasted as I can assure you we were talking very quietly. It didnt help that there was NO bulkhead over our door, yes, it was completely open, so we could hear everything going on in the hotel and I'm sure other people could hear our chatter. I am truly baffled by this level of Hospitality, luckily we left early, declined breakfast and went onto stay in a great hotel in Bordeaux City, where the staff truly bent over backwards to make our stay an unforgettable memory. I dont like leaving bad reviews, but I have to say this is a true reflection of our stay.
