Their direct website announces an "exceptional closure" with no posted reopening date. Speaking to the local tourist office they confirmed they were closed. This was through their fair English and my 30 words of French so I may have misunderstood, but it sounded permanent. I also had no reply from Casa Penalolen, which seems to have repeatedly changed contact emails...

Dug and Wendy Harrison (UK) From our initial greeting to the time we left, Linda was an exceptional host. Robert was away on business so we did not get the chance to meet with him. On arriving, we were greeted by seeing our name on a chalkboard outside the property which really made the visit personal. The beer and wine...

A very warm welcome including a pitcher of wine! The hosts spoke very good English and were really helpful. This family run chambres d'hotes is in a beautiful, peaceful , convenient location for visitors to the interesting town of Villefranche-de-Conflent and Le petit train jaune. The bedrooms were comfortable and full of character. Lovely French breakfast. Very highly recommended.

We stayed one night here because it's close to the railway station and we were hoping to catch a train up to the Spanish border. Sadly, the only train on this route is Le Train Jaune which is out of service for another week - recommencing Decembre 04. I'd also read excellent reviews of the Auberge, all of which are...

A warm welcome from the hosts and a very comfortable en suite bedroom made this a very pleasant overnight stop. We came here for the Yellow Train, which wasn't running, but the town and fort made up for it. Hope to come back when it's running again, Jan 16 in theory, and will definitely try and stay here again.

The reviews I read from before were all spot on! The home is absolutely beautiful and a lovely historical piece. The hosts Linda and Robert make you comfortable, provide great advise on what to see, where to go and where to eat. We loved being able to park our car and walk from the B & B to several sights...

Great location. Very close to the train station and a only short walk from the town, fort Liberia, and the caves, but at the same time so quiet and peaceful and with lovely views that you feel like you're in the middle of the countryside. The pool is particularly handy on a hot summer day and the hosts are very...

Friendly welcome, spacious comfortable rooms, lovely gardens, good conversation, well behaved dog, good shower, short walk to great restaurant in the old town, handy for travelling on the Train Jaune. Breakfast was adequate. Nothing to fault.

Our four night stay in Villefranche-de-Conflent was thoroughly enjoyable and very relaxing - made all the more memorable by our very helpful hosts, Linda and Robert. They were very accommodating with little extra touches like expresso coffee and early breakfast when we had an early train to catch on the last day. The B and B is in a perfect...
