Ok, may be the name I suggested sounds a tad exaggerated, and too long. But it does not mean the experience was any less memorable. First of all a much deserved apology to Jan, Arati & Nana for not reviewing the place sooner. No excuses and here is our redemption. Megha & I found out about the place from Air... More

We spent a memorable three days at the Guest House. The occasion was my little boy's first birthday. So we had the whole family and close friends land in Goa for the event. We'd booked the entire main house (eight bedrooms) so it really felt like we were at home together. The villa is beautiful and you can feel the... More

Amazing getaway in Goa, this old Portuguese villa has many stories to tell. Quiet and detached from the mainland, this is a peaceful getaway. The rooms are comfortable and classy , there is a lot of space to walk around and relax and the staff especially Loku make your stay worthwhile with their constant and patient attention to guests. This is a wonderful place right in the heart of Divar Island, the staff were super friendly and the food was excellent. The house has a long history and is full of interesting objects. There is a free ferry to transport you to the island from the mainland and a bus that takes you right to the house but be... More

We landed up without a plan & the experience was awesome .. spent time from afternoon till evening. Great to see the effort in restoring an old Portuguese property reviving its glory. Warm hospitality and great food. The moment one enters, it feels like home. My kids got into the pool within half an hour of landing there and had... More

Good spacious rooms coupled with excellent service and above that very nice ambiance which we never experienced in our earlier stays at mainland hotels.Connectivity with mainland is excellent with ferry carrying the vehicles also. You get tempted to extend your stay.

It is just home away home. Staff is excellent and very affectionate. Building design and architecture is commendable. All rooms have beautiful view. The best part is the ferry drive to reach the island. It is available frequently and just takes 5 minutes to cross the river. It is natural beautiful, very calm and lush green.

Divar Island Retreat is a perfect home-stay for tourists looking for an absolute seclusion from the bustling mainland. The island is only 5 minutes by ferry from Old Goa which run frequently even in the wee hours. The meticulously decorated and maintained bungalow and the only guest house in the entire island is co-owned (I guess) by the Bostock family... More

Me and a friend heard from this guest house through the son of the owner. We felt right at home when we arrived. The manager Luku is a true host and made sure of some entertainment and a drink while our room was being prepared. Then we were brought to our very comfortable and clean room. The whole surroundings are... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Good Day to you and thank you for looking at Divar Island Guest House Retreat. We are a small family run concern and first and foremost you must know, this is not a hotel but our home. We are a . Mum, (Jean), My wife (Arati) my daughters, (Alisha and Anya) not forgetting our German Shepards (Simba and Junior) both well mannered but bark sometimes when they first meet you and lastly Me (jan) with the support of my right hand men, Luku and Geet. We try our best to ensure that your stay with us is comfortable and hopefully eventful fun and social wise. You can have peace and quite if you prefer or just join in. Our rooms are serviced hot water by a Solar system, so once the water is out and it has gone cold, you must advise us and we will but the water heater on or bring you a bucket of hot water. We dont have 24 hr staff so it would be helpful if you advise us before everyone has gone to bed. (We are available 24hrs just in case of emergency but in case you want a snack sorry when we have gone to bed the food stand is closed). If you have booked a particular set package, that is what you will receive, should you wish to order additional items, it is no issue but there will be an additional charge. Should you wish something that is not on the Menus then that is Ok as we will arrange it for you but you must give us some notice to go get the shopping or fresh produce. The ferry runs 24hrs so if you do come back after 2.30am please use the old Goa ferry point and it cost Rs55.00 ... more   less
