I stayed with Rocky, Colin, and Chuyulu Francombe and felt like I was with family. I had many conversations with and particularly Colin about conservation and Kenyan history. I particularly enjoyed sitting with Colin around the fireplace in the den, and meeting Colin for breakfast in the bush. I loved seeing their adorable granddaughter as well as seeing their female...

Returning to Ol Malo after twenty years we found Colin and Rocky Francombe had passed much of the management on to Andrew and Chiulu who maintain the style and charm of this fine lodge to perfection. That said, it was the greatest pleasure to be hosted by Colin at a "Breakfast in the bush" after an early morning camel safari...

We have visited many good lodges and camps in Kenya but this was definitely the best. Superb accomodation in a great location. Luxurious without being 'glossy'. Excellent food. Well organised, very helpful and charming people. A great experience

This is all about the view from every room. Almost ceiling to floor windows overlooking a tree-peppered valley with the the odd volcanic kopje, up to the mountains in the hazy distance. This is a beautiful luxury lodge set into the hillside in a rocky wilderness shared with only the odd Samburu herdsman. But this is not your uber polished...

Management response:

Thank you so much for your lovely review, your descriptions really made me smile as we are a family ranch and home with a different character to the 'polished' lodges. We hope to see you back soon!

Ol Malo is one of those places you dream about. We stayed at Ol Malo in between our heavier game-viewing camps, and for relaxation in an authentic yet luxurious environment it was ideal. Our thatched roof cottage was deluxe: a separate sitting room with french doors opened out on to a grassy veranda overlooking the valley and hills beyond (with...

Kudos to Andrew and Chylulu for a truly unforgettable 3 days. My wife and I, with our 4 energetic and adventurous teenage grandchildren spent 3 activity filled days at Ol Malo. Each of our rooms were amazing and creatively decorated (Crocodile shaped tub as an example). The food was also wonderful. But Ol Malo is really about the activities that...

We stayed at Ol Malo House; the Hippo House specifically. It was FANTASTIC! The rooms were lovely and the food was outstanding. Andrew and Chyulu were warm and friendly and happily led us on wonderful adventures. We loved hiking with Samwell and Hussein, multiple game drives, Camel riding, breathtaking breakfasts in the bush and relaxing my the pool. The staff...

The view from the top of the escarpment is breathtaking. All the rooms (6?) are individualistic, generously proportioned, with good reading choice in case you forgot your book. Andrew knocked himself out to give us a great time which is just what we had. Riding a camel to breakfast past zebra, giraffe and elephants was a first. A swim before...

Ol Malo was suggested by our planner, Aardvark Safaris in Solana Beach, California. What an incredible setting!! Aardvark wanted us to experience three types of safaris. This was perfect!!! The entire place is handcrafted. The cottages are incredible!! Ours was two levels, with our own deck. From the deck, or our living area, or the bathroom, we could see hyenas...
