Khanabadosh is a beautiful luxury homestay just beyond Mashobra. It has 4 well appointed beautiful rooms with ensuite bathrooms for guests. In addition there is a sprawling living room and a spacious kitchen. We have a very well populated Library, should the bookworm in you raise its head. won’t be disappointed. The hearth at Khanabadosh is as warm as its heart. Breakfast is included in the tariff. We have an in-house chef for regular meals. But you are more than welcome to pitch in or cook completely solo. We cook too. And on prior intimation, we could serve you with authentic Himachali and/ or Kashmiri cuisine. And of course, the tandoor at Khanabadosh always looks forward to lure your palate. We can cater easily to 10 people. This aside, there’s a largish, beautiful green piece of land, running along on one side of the property. A giant Buddha in stone, overlooks this green patch…almost beckoning you to get the Yoga mat out…or just sit, meditate or sleep.

It had been more than a year since we took a vacation. With things opening up we decided to head to the hills for a few days, we were looking for a place which provide the safe comfort of a home in this pandemic and also welcomed pets. We found khanabadosh just the right one for us. Even before we reached the home stay , we were pleasantly surprised by the thoughtfulness of the hosts , the wanted to know our good preferences, medical conditions if any what we liked to eat , any allergies etc . We were given a warm welcome by the hosts. The room was very thoughtfully decorated and had a very majestic view. The room had a personalised gifts for all of us with a welcome note from the host, even our pet had a goodies for him with a personalised note from the hosts Gabbar and Bruce Lee. The ambience and surroundings were just the way we wanted , the early morning walks with the host were the most refreshing we’ve had , clean air no traffic sounds , just pure nature. The taps by the evening bon fire will never be forgotten. This review will incomplete without any mention of the food , the food was jut awesome . Everything that we ate was locally produced and tasted just perfect . This was honestly the best holiday we’ve had even our pet had great company . This place is highly recommended, will definitely be heading back in the ver near future,

The Himalayas constantly call out to me.

Every year the pine-needle laden floors of the coniferous forests, the smell of the wind that blows through the trees, and the taste of the crisp and fresh air on my tongue make me want to come back again and again. Alas, 2020 crushed my dreams and hopes of visiting those majestic mountains.

Nevertheless, I was determined. As soon as the new year arrived, I convinced my family (including a very stubborn retriever) that a holiday was a must! A few calls with a very sweet lady over the phone and many questions about 'activities to do' later, my family and I were off to a vacation we would never forget.

Arriving at the house after a long and arduous journey in the rain, we were greeted by the lovely smiles of Geetika, Jagdeep, Chandrakant and Raman. The house was decked up with eccentric curiosities that lined the walls. Everything from old cameras to cross-bottles could be found in the warm wood-lined walls of Khanabadosh. Sitting down for a small conversation, my family and I soon realised that the coming few days were going to be exceptional as we learned more about the interesting lives of our hosts.

We were soon led to our rooms which were exceptional in every way! Each room had been personally curated from the items found in the travels of our amazing hosts. We had all received personal care packages with soft and cuddly woollen socks, local Himalayan caps and even sanitisers (an essential in the new normal we call life!). The beds were lined with soft and warm quilts which I miss to this day!

Dinner was served soon after, and we experienced what I believe to be an exotic performance for my tastebuds! Local 'Pahadi' food lay in front of us on the beautiful wooden dining table and fresh Rotis smothered with cow's ghee started to arrive. I gave looked at my younger brother to see the look of absolute joy due to the tastes that was about to touch his tongue. I will not attempt to describe the smorgasbord of flavours I experienced at that moment as I do not believe that words will be able to describe them! It should be noted that this wasn't even an isolated experience! Each and every meal we received at Khanabadosh was better than the last! And more importantly. each was served with the same love and affection that one would receive at your own home.

Over the next few days, we spent more time with our lovely hosts, sharing stories and exchanging thoughts. Geetika and Jagdeep are some of the most passionate and amazing people I have had the pleasure of interacting with and I would encourage that every person that goes to this beautiful place should try to spend as much time as they can with them!

Unfortunately, my stay at Khanabadosh was not close to enough and the time to leave soon arrived! With a heavy heart, I said goodbye to the sweetest and kindest people I had ever met and departed for the long journey home.

However, this is definitely not the last time I visit this travelling home. I will be back soon Khanabadosh! To walk within your garden, cook within your kitchen and most importantly to experience the wonderful hospitality of your hosts!

Khanabadosh is among the finest bed and breakfasts’ I have been to. The hospitality was impeccable, in a warm
and friendly environment nurtured by the Khanabadosh team. Upon arrival, I was given a warm and gracious welcome by all.

COVID safety measures are also taken seriously. Daily temperature checks were duly recorded. Hand sanitizer and masks were also provided. In our rooms, we were given giftbags, with complimentary kinnauri socks, a himachal cap and various other curated conveniences. The rooms themselves were spacious and well designed, with high speed wifi and travel adapters available. I stayed in the king’s room, and it was truly befitting royalty. Indeed I did feel like an emperor on my 200 year old four poster bed.

The nearby area is lush and mountainous, and perfect for long treks and trail walking. We did have heavy rain one afternoon, but then I had the well stocked library and copious amounts of ginger chai to fall back upon!

Snow had fallen on the upper reaches when I had arrived. What a sight to wake up to! It was right out of some fairytale wonderland. There’s a sign at the entrance that aptly states “no stress zone.” And that was my exact experience. The mountain air is soothing and peaceful. It just puts you at ease right away, and allows one to appreciate the sanctity of nature. These simple pleasures go a long way, especially for those coming from bustling big cities. It’s a newfound sense of calm that one can’t put into words..

Within a span of 5 days, I was served authentic Thai, Italian, English and of course local Himachali cuisine. Everything was truly farm to table, as almost all ingredients were grown in the backyard itself. Across the board, the food was to die for, with the lamb shanks and Thai red curry jasmine rice being highlights. They truly spoil you! The resident chef Raman is a culinary maestro!

Last but certainly not least, the two golden retrievers at Khanabadosh, Gabbar and Bruce Lee, were a joy to spend time with. They are the friendliest, most loving creatures I have ever met. I know I will miss them dearly.

Thank you team Khanabadosh for the remarkable experience. I would recommend this very special BnB to everyone. Can’t wait to be back soon!

The ennui of the new normal was finally broken when my favourite destination in the hills announced they were welcoming guests back. Bags packed I drove up the winding hilly road without the air conditioning of course taking in the cool and crisp mountain air. Upon arrival Geetika,Raman,Gabbar Singh and Bruce Lee were all there waiting to welcome me with the most amazing tea with desi burgers. (They should patent the recipe).Everything was as it always was... sheer perfection. The only new additions were the sanitizers and masks and temperature checks which were gently folded into the routine for everyones safety. The extra effort that the Khanabadosh team has made to ensure our safety and peace of mind was not lost on us and the other guests and I were suitable impressed. The rooms were even better appointed than before with a large goody bag placed on the beds for us with oersonalised tags and welcome letters from Geetika and the team some of the biggest hotel brands wpuld do well to learn from the kind of details they go into at Khanabadosh to enhance guest experience. The customary wazwan was delectable as always and the beetroot halwa still remains a magical secret they would neber share with us. The jungle treks and the evenings by the bonfire sitting close to the ever loving Bruce Lee went by all too fast.As I drive back from Khanabadosh I still carry memories of the deviled eggs, baked cheese and mince macaroni and lamb shanks washed down with cups of Kahwa and Himalayan herbal tee. I did pocket some of the lovely chocolates and home made cookies that are placed in the rooms for the guests. Raman sent me off with some Kathi rolls for the journey back and a flask full of coffee. I shall take a breakfast break in an hour and see the availability to make a booking in November. It always feels the same when we leave Khanabadosh as one does when you leave your home and family. Until next time, thank you Geetika and team for bringing us so much joy in these times.

Khanabadosh came highly recommended from a friend who also happens to be a local of shimla, so we were not too concerned to start off but had high hopes none the less, and were very happy by the end of our 4 day stay.

The place is neatly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Mashobra, yet retains the charm of Mashobra & its famous forests. I love to hike and ride my bicycle in the hills, so the home stay was great as it had close access to all the trails around mashobra.

The views are lovely from the common lawn. The house and rooms are tastefully done. The staff is very polite and helpful. The hosts are charming & all evening conversations in the lawn over drinks were memorable. The hosts were also kind enough to help my friends out experience some of the local trails by personally guiding them in their free time.

Special mention about Geetika’s home cooked meals. They take pride in serving some great food and tailoring the meals to all our preferences ( well in advance) . Right from Pahadi ( my preference ) to conti ( what my friends enjoyed) , down to some secret home recipes ( the baked fish deserves a mention) - everything was on point.

Khanabadosh is also home to 2 friendly & charming doggos - Bruce lee and Gabbar, super friendly and adorable.

The backside of the property also has a public volleyball court and the local village girls team practices there. They were kind enough to let us join them, and we had a few intense & rewarding games with the kids, who were jus brilliant !

Although the location is very private and fairly secluded, the road down to the property is a little narrow & winding, the idea is to not get daunted by the same, and to drive carefully. Parking is also available just outside the gate, which is great. Internet is decent ( not outstanding) but they have extenders across the house, but was patchy in bits. I was able to stream the euros matches using Hotstar none the less.

We had a great stay and recommend the place to people who like a beautiful & quiet home stay tucked away in the mountains.
Def not meant for loud city slickers, looking to party in the mountains. We Would love to re-visit when in the neighbourhood again.

I visited this hotel with a friend of mine on the first week of October and from the start to finish our stay in Khanabadosh was incredibly special ,From our beautifully appointed rooms to the peaceful outdoor areas, to the lovely dining room - this homestay is full of comfort and luxury.
But what makes this homestay special is the staff and its Owner .Welcoming ,professional and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble at all, cant imagine how kind and helpful everyone is

Khanabadosh offers a varied menu and catered well for our dietary requirements and the spread was amazing from Indian to Kashmiri food to continental and to top it was the dessert everyday.

So conveniently located in the heat of Mashobra I personally enjoyed my run in the morning...this place is so peaceful, tranquil and beautiful.

We would love to return again. and they all personally ensured our stay was a magical one.

Our room was tastefully decorated and had the most comfortable of beds, a nice bathroom and a view to die for. Ample space in the room and was kept impeccably clean at all times.

The last 4 days were just Fab thanks to hospitality of the entire team at Khanabadosh. We reached there on Sunday and as we got there, proper temperature checks were done and then welcomed by Gabbar and Bruce Lee- The stars of Khanabadosh. We met the owners who showed us our rooms where we all had our individual welcome kits.

Barring 2 meals in our 4 day stay, we ate all our meals there and it’s just amazing to see how much love and care with which the food is prepared. Right from the local specialities to whatever you would suggest as your liking, you get it all here.

The View from the garden as well as the rooms were just magnetic to ensure that we didn’t really have to go anyplace else. A nice Bonfire with a little wine and single malts along with snacks kickstarted our evening.

Between the 9 of us, 7 are tea lovers and 2 are coffee lovers. We were served whenever we asked for this.

What to expect?- you can go for trekking as soon as you step out from Khanabadosh, can go for a nice walk or Run.

For me the highlight of my stay was spotting 3 shooting stars.

Kudos to the entire staff who were just brilliant as their service was top notch.

Surely going to get back with my family soon once things settle down. This was a trip of 4 days with my closest friends.

Surely put this on your must visit places :)

We stayed at Khanabadosh for 4 nights en-route to Sangla valley. This is a warm, cozy and luxurious home stay with the entire place soaked in Geetika's family history and collectibles from across the world. Geetika is a super host and the food that Chadra kant & Raman (they help run the place) churned out for us from the kitchen was finger licking. Bruce Lee and Gabbar her two dogs are super friendly. Their are a number of things I would recommend Khanabadosh for. The comfort of the place with lots of goodies that are kept in the room, to the welcome hampers that are very classy and make sure the travelers have everything they need (which means no packing towels or slippers or basic toiletries) to the amazing walks around. The beds are very comfortable and our 8 year old son also got an exclusive space for him to call his own. Their is a heater for those chilly days and Chandra Kant & Raman make sure their is hot tea & hot water bottle available always (& yes good wifi and netflix for those cozy evenings when u just want to cuddle with a glass wine or tea and watch the idiot box). I have to mention the amazing dessert and lip smacking variety of food that is prepared fresh with local ingredients and to the taste of the guests. The place also has a wonderfully appointed library so don't bother to carry ur books, Geetika has a huge collection which she is happy to share for a read. We also got the bonfire and Arun was kind enough to accompany us for some short treks despite his busy schedule. Talking to Arun was very inspiring as he has made India proud. Geetika is moving to another property soon (with breath taking views as we got a special wip tour ;) ) but knowing Geetika the new place will be stellar & we will visit again soon to stay there. All in all Khanabadosh deserves a big thumbs up in terms of warmth, comfort, food and much much more.

I can wholeheartedly reinforce what has been already said in each of the previous glowing reviews. My husband, two sons and I, stayed recently and had the most wonderful experience in every way. We were on holiday in India having travelled from the Scottish Highlands, and this was hands down the unanimous highlight of our trip. Geetika and each member of her dedicated team, are outstanding in providing exceptional hospitality. The location and views speak for themselves, each room individualised and so very comfortable, and the food is simply exquisite but it is the thoughtfulness, kindness and nurturing service that goes above and beyond that sets this homestay apart. Khanabadosh is a magical place and a stay there is like medicine for the heart, mind and soul. We cannot wait for an opportunity to make a return visit.

"KHANABADOSH" A paradise curated perfectly by Host Geetika with oodles of love and warmth that reflect in everything at this heaven from food to rooms to staff to lawn to the mesmerizing view from windows with icing on the cake by Gabbar and Bruce Lee.

I did not have much idea about the place and did not google much. I just landed there with my gang based on my friend's recommendations who had visited earlier.

What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be when we landed at the doors of this beautiful place, welcomed warmly by the extremely courteous staff and Host Geetika!

It was drizzling outside, and as we stepped in, escorted by the staff with their funky umbrellas on top, we were thrilled by the ambience and warmth of the living room. There was a huge captivating smile on all of our faces gazing at the place, where everything looked perfect and we instantly knew our stay was going to be awesome.

We all had a glass of warm water and were ushered to our respective rooms. My jaws dropped at the finesse with which it was readied. A goody basket was kept for each and everyone with carefully picked beautiful handmade items from woolens to soaps and a personalised welcome letter from Host Geetika.

Over the next two days, we overdosed on the scrumptious and one of the bestest delicacies ever, had the most comfortable stay, and did not feel like leaving from this paradise at all. Made friends with Host Geetika and the staff and chit- chatted endlessly over bonfire every night.

This place and the stay here will remain etched in my memories for a long time. Hopeful to be here again, sooner than later.

A must-visit place if you just want to pamper yourself with extremely comfortable and peaceful stay, delicious food, breathtaking views from your window, play with over friendly Gabbar and Bruce Lee, and unwind from the hustle bustle of life.
