We stayed overnight in one of the General Store rooms and were thoroughly impressed by the standard of accommodation, the quality of the meals and the helpfulness of the staff. The attention to detail is outstanding. Apart from the beauty of the site, there is a wonderful atmosphere - it is easy to imagine the lives of the inhabitants a...

My better half and I were discussing the fact that we had never made the trip up to the Lac St-Jean region from Montreal, which is about a five hour drive from the city. We should head up there for at least a week-end. We stumbled across the historic village of Val-Jalbert on the internet. We are both history buffs...

Short family break at Val-Jalbert where we stayed in the rooms above the General store (museum attraction). rooms were great and to a very good standard although decorated to reflect the period of the setting, lots of painted wood panels etc. As we were on a fully inclusive basis the food choice was a limited menu that did not change...

I really thought that this particular attraction deserves five stars. Its in the heart of the Lac St Jean region which in and of itself is picturesque. It has to be one of the least known beauties of the country. I wish I had have known about it sooner because its such a treat to go to. I loved looking...

I did not expect too much. I thought to find only some old houses. Not at all. Of course you find old houses but the explanation of how the factory worked and the multi sensation projection in the factory are already reason enough to go to Val-jalbert And I did not yet mention the very nice waterfall and the new...

My husband and I decided to stay here for one night after I came across this town in my research of the Lac St Jean region. It exceeded my expectations. Everything was done tastefully and was quite fun! Aside from a gorgeous, clean and contemporary renovated room which was once an old home of the town, our package also included...

We'd expected this village to be very touristy, and we chose it anyway. To our surprise, it was nothing at all like that. We were there just at the beginning of the season, so there were only a few overnight visitors. The restored house we stayed in was amazing. Decorated simply, but with very nice fixtures, comfy beds and pillows,...

As part of our road trip to Quebec, we wanted a northwoods experience and so in our research found Val Jalbert. It seemed that what is offered here is unique and it was. We stayed for one night in one of the houses across from the general store. Inside it is quite modern. We dined at the former factory and...

This is a really unique opportunity to experience a slice of the past. The accomodations are first rate. The meals are delicious and well presented. One night is not enough, but more than two nights are not necessary to enjoy the property. If you can afford it, this is the nicest place in the area to base out and enjoy...
