Some hangovers from the bad old days here. Scratchy thin towels, tiny bathroom, miserable bedroom. No kettle, tissues, body lotion.
BUT the heating worked, the water was hot, the room was clean, and the dinner was (over) generous.
Don’t have the garlic soup, which was greasy bouillon with crusts and a ham and cheese surprise in the bottom of the dish. Schnitzel was well cooked, they gave 2 pieces which was too much for me. There was an option of sides and I was delighted to be served with a big plate of grilled vegetables! Apple strudel was again 2 pieces with ice cream and cream, too much. I ordered a pilsner and was served with a pint, and it was not cheap.
They need to ditch the curly placemats and plastic flowers.
Good location near the stone city.

The hotel is dating back it's start to 1933,it keeps in the ground floor still some hints of it's atmosphere. The rooms clean but rather small, refurbished in a very simple way. But the location is wonderful, only 90 km out of Prague. We did not spend too much time inside when there are so many natural and architectural sightseeing s all around! The pleasant and helpful staff makes the stay very comfortable.

We had a good stay here while visiting the nearby rock city. The hotel is historic and even somewhat grand, with a perfect location just outside the park.

The rooms, though, were only average, with tiny bathrooms and no air conditioning. It was hot while we were here, so sleeping was a challenge.

The restaurant was decent but not memorable.

Stayed a night as part of a walking holiday in Bohemia.
Beautiful setting in the woods, lovely gardens. Nice hotel, old fashioned with a classic restaurant room.
Rooms are slightly small, but adequate. Given the historical nature, there are no lifts or air conditioning so something to be aware of on hot days.

Excellent outside ‘beer garden’. Good drinks and very good food. Good breakfast spread.

Spent a night here after visiting the Prachov rocks (the hotel is walking distance from there).

This dog-friendly hotel is set amidst a lovely little park and has ample outdoor seating to soak up some sunshine.

In contrast, rooms are very basic and our double room was definitely London-sized (i.e. it was very small) and we struggled somewhat being tall and having two large suitcases. No frills here, i.e. no hot drinks or fancy little toiletries though they did provide shower gel and soap. Unusual bathroom floor made from actual pebbles. Hot water was also only available during set hours. It was pretty clean, however.

It was very quiet at night and we did sleep well though the room was a bit stuffy and the bedding had seen better days.

The restaurant was a large and somewhat faded affair. Food here was rather hit and miss. My goulash with Bohemian dumplings really wasn't great but the shopska salad (chopped veg with white cheese) was pretty tasty. The breakfast buffet also was fairly basic (some bread, cheese, meats, yogurts etc) but their coffee machine was quite sophisticated.

Staff here were great though, both in the restaurant and at reception. Both English and German was spoken and they were super friendly and helpful.

All in all a bit of a mixed bag. If you don't mind no-frills rooms it's worth considering for a stay near Prachov rocks.

Parkhotel Skalni Mesto is a great place to stay providing that you do not expect luxury. I can compare the hotel to a dorminory - a large number of tiny rooms with a shower and basic equipment, twin beds and lockdown at 10 p.m. The hotel however, has a lot of advantages. It is located right next to Prachovske Skaly, stunning "city made of rocks", which is a great place for those who love nature, hiking, mountains, moss, kilometers of stairs made in stone, etc. Parkhotel Skalni Mesto is also only a stone away from the city of Jicin (home of Rumcajs of the famous cartoon). The hotel restaurant is great as well - the meals are tasty and affordable. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and it is varied. The staff is helpful, friendly and German or English speaking. As dog owners, we received the key to the back door to be able to go for walks while the rest of the hotel guests were still sleeping. Overall, we had a very nice stay in the hotel.

Location was really good for hiking to the rocks. Beautifull scenery. Staff wasn t really helpfull... when we arrived we asked about hiking trails and they made us buy map for information while all the information was outside on the boards!
Hotel is outdated but iT has its charms. Bathroom was really really small.
Heater didnt Work proparly ( see photo) but was ok for us!
Dinner was bad. Goulash as described on the menu was meat minus all the rest ( no bacon, no mushrooms, no onion ( only fried). My husband had chicken and iT tasted like freezer. We orderd dessert to have Some flavor and YES the appelstrudel was GREAT ! One is enough for 2!
Breakfast was good, enough. As we were the only ones staying there , there was no buffet but everything was set on the table and iT was all fine!

I have stayed in this hotel with my husband, 2 kids (7&3) and my mum & dad. We had a nice size family room with 4 beds but in the different building from the actual hotel which was a new part. My mum and dad had a double room in the hotel. rooms are very very small but clean. staff was very helpful and kind. We had lovely breakfast and absolutely delightful dinner, we all loved our food there.
The hotel is surrounded with beautiful large park and on your doorstep is "natural park of rocks".
Great for outdoor break for whole family who loves natural and walking through out the woods which is part of "bohemian paradise"...............

What is the biggest advantage of this hotel is that it is situated in the beautiful nature, surrounded with large park and a almost few steps from Prachovske skaly - the sandstone rocks, where you can make a nice walk through among these rocks that climbers use a lot in summer. Now, the hotel - it looks the same for many years, as I looked at the picture from the old days, from the outside nothing has changes. The windows are old wooden, but there is a nice view from them to the attached park, where birds sing one over the other. So this far it is a romantic place. But I agree with the other travellers, that you feel like the time has stopped here. The interior has stayed the same too - it is old and the rooms are clean and cosy, but the bathroom looks a bit old and would need more renovation for this price. Breakfast was ok with me, but what I didnt like was the old fashioned Czech food - like from the communism era. Everything is fried on oil - even the salmon was so oily, which was a pity. I got a boiled frozen vegetable with it, no lemon, but a ball of butter instead, which was a total nonsense. I couldnt find any vegetarian meal here that would sound like a good meal to me. The potato pancakes were also fried from a frozen ready-to-cook-meal, though they were good. In general I wasnt very excited about this cuisine, I think its a pity, they could do better, if they wanted. And above all the smell of the fried food is everywhere, even when I opened the window of my room. What I liked here about the drinks was a Moravian wine - Rulandske sede from Velke Pavlovice that was very nice and I didnt have head-ache after that. :) The staff is normally polite but doesnt look excited about the job, maybe apart from the receptionist. The wifi didnt work well in the room and I had problem with it even downstairst in the dining hall.

Hotel is old and used. Rooms are partially renewed, so not so bad for sleeping, but restaurant is very old looking and staff look like from 19th century too :) Price is low, but for this level of hotel i expect even more cheap price. Surroundings is very nice, hotel is located in natural park with sand-stone mountains. So may be good for cheap family trip when you more time want traveling around in nice nature...
