Dark lobby, old hotel but the view is awesome. Unfortunately, my room faced the other side I could't see it from the window. Smoking smell in the room was so terrible even I requested a non smoking room. Dinner was nice, several options and were...More
Yamagisi ryokan was not a great experience. First of all, nobody spoke English. On one hand, I could understand this, because it is a traditional ryokan and not a big, international hotel. However, Mt. Fuji attracts so many thousands of international visitors that it seems...More
Stay for 1 night. The hotel is facing the yamagishi lake which provide nice view. The ryokan is mixed between traditional and modern design. Quite nice
We had traditional japanese meal for dinner and breakfast here.
The room is tatami style. No problem to me....More
Hotel staff left our room keys at the reception counter unattended at night as they were out on patrol! Anyone could have taken the room keys and gone into our room! Totally unprofessional and unacceptable! And the entire hotel and room smelled of cigarette smoke...More

I am sure they could accommodate vegetarian food if they know in advance. When we went to breakfast it was all laid out in advance for the time we had said, so if you asked at reception the day before they would know. We really enjoyed the food and little dishes of so many different foods, it was very memorable.

The onsen areas are for hotel guests only and are relatively small pools (especially the outdoor ones). There are two onsen rooms/areas - one for men and another for women. They are switched over on the midnights, i.e. on Day 1 you use Area A when check-in and then on Day 2 you make sure to follow the gender sign to use another Area. I do not think Tatoo is a concern here and no hotel securities or staffs to patrol.
