As described - quaint kiwi baches/cribs of the 70s, some original retro decor, but all spotlessly clean and with comfy beds. The host and driver were both just lovely- friendy and interesting. And you're near to the pub for beer and food, especially useful if finishing the Heaphy. But far away enough for this spot to be silent - no noise...

Apartment spacious and well appointed, clean and tidy. Separate bedroom with lounge, dining and kitchen area. Lovely rural setting with farm animals in front of units and view towards the mountains. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend these apartments.

The interior our motel unit was spacious and furnished with refined good taste. If you know the Japanese word "shibui", that would describe the decor well. In a kitschy motel, the cow-shaped milk jug would have been kitsch, but in the sparely beautiful setting of this motel it was a lovely humorous touch. Eastward through the window, a field with...

My partner and I stayed the night here and it was great, spacious clean and comfortable rooms. Lovely service from the new owners Shona & Murray. So close to the Heaphy Track and Kahurangi National Park. Would definitely stay again, looking forward to our next trip.

We spent two nights in the motel on a short break from Nelson on the recommendation of friends. We booked a studio room and it was larger than any other similar room we have stayed in. We even had a private patio which we used for our afternoon tea break. The shower was great, the bed comfortable, the room spotlessly...

Ok, so it isn't quite the end of the road. We spent ten nights on New Zealand's west coast from Te Anau to Karamea in self catering accommodation. We only booked this accommodation the day before arriving and had to choose a two bedroom unit, which exceeded our needs. We spent two nights while exploring the area. The unit was...

Booked into this motel for 4 nights as a last minute thing after the accommodation we had originally booked (Karamea Holiday Cottage) turned out to be damp and not particularly clean. This place in contrast was immaculate, extremely spacious (we stayed in a one bedroom unit), and very secluded. Units are semi detached but planned so each is screened from...

On the far north-west coast of the South Island of New Zealand is the rather isolated small town of Karamea, in beautiful country, and gateway to the Oparara Basin, an area of incredible natural beauty only about 25 km to the North of town. The motels are only 500 metres from the centre of town, with its few shops, but...

Stayed three nights and absolutely loved the nature and peacefulness of Karamea. We had a one bedroom unit which was spotless and well-equipped. We actually only kept our luggage in the bedroom 'cos the lounge had a double bed, nicer views, the TV, and we just had just lots of space. This motel is just outside (before entering) Karamea village,...

We stayed in a spacious one bed suite. Tiny fridge, microwave oven and kettle. Lovely sunny patio. Fields next door but no view of the river. Short walk to Karamea resort for dinner. Long walk to the historic Karemea Hotel, which is the other restaurant in town. Karamea is a fabulous place to get away from it all with many...
