We have stayed at Doxford Cottages on three occasions so far, in two different cottages - the smaller properties for two. The properties are very well presented, comfortable and warm with all you would expect in a five star establishment. The setting is lovely with woodland and a large lake and the location is handy for the many Northumberland attractions....

Others have described the qualty of the cottage and the amenities, the great service and support offered by Sue and John, the locartion and the wildlife. I would just add that, even though they are not cheap, the whole offering is good value for money. The little touches such as fresh flowers, welcome pack, generous supplies of logs, excellent local...

Yet again another fantastic stay at Doxford Cottages. Can not praise Sue and John enough for their help and making us feel as welcome as they did. John went out of his way to help when I had trouble understanding the cooker and Sue was as always so warm and welcoming. Will be returning again.

For the fourth time, it's the luxury of Swinney. The weather has been brutal but the time here is just the most relaxing ever. There isn't a better quality accommodation to he had anywhere. Visited low Newton beach and the ship inn. Doxford is the best holiday ever.

Having never stayed in self catering cottages before we were a bit apprehensive about what to expect. We needn't have worried as Doxford's website and trip adviser didn't let us down. We stayed in Swinney Cottage and although we knew that lots of other people had stayed there before us, because it was so immaculately clean and well decorated, it...

We stayed at Shellrig which is unusually spacious for a cottage for a couple, it has all the equipment and utensils that you will ever need and we wanted for nothing. Great location in peaceful setting yet only a couple of miles from the A1. We had perfect weather in early October so could explore the estate and the superb...

First time at Doxford Cottages and we hope that it won't be our last. From the little welcoming touches such as flowers, local honey and a bottle of milk, to the fluffy towels, well-sharpened knives and insightful guest guide, everything has been thought of. We stayed in Swinney Cittage and the whole cottage is tastefully decorated to an incredibly high...

Our first visit to Doxford Cottages and have already booked our stay next year and we haven't even finished our holiday yet. We stayed in Foxcover which is a one level property and ideal for those with mobility problems. The cottage was beautifully kept and tastefully furnished and the grounds are beautiful with acres to explore. Imagine being able to...

On our fourth visit we were once again impressed with the general standard of this cottage. Really nothing could be faulted and it is difficult to think there is a better set of cottages in this area for a weeks peaceful break. OK they are not cheap but ,lets be honest, you get what you pay for and we love...
