For us it was really a pleasant discovery. We stayed there to visit the cellars of Saint Emilion. We savored the authenticity of the Chambre d’Hotes with spotless and well-kept rooms, with studied upholstery and pool bags thought out in every detail. The kindness of JeanCharles helped to make the
Our stay, even the slight decay of the exterior made this stay more true for us. We recommend it for families and couples.

It is almost you are staying in a very tasteful museum and every room is full of surprises. That combined with the modern amenities makes it a very special place. The best however is Jean Charles the host. He makes you feel at home immediately with his friendly nature and great sense of humour. He also is very helpful in finding restaurants of wine tasting ideas in the area. I would recommend this place to everybody who likes to explore the st. Emilion and pomerol areas. I would definitely return here

Jean Charles is literally the best host I’ve ever known. Nothing is too much bother for him and he speaks English too! He did all our restaurant reservations and was a wealth of information. The rooms are all different and so elegant.
Most beautiful spot, close to so much. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else if I went back.

A very tranquil location next to the Dordogne well situated for Fronsec , Pomerol and St Emilion wine tasting. Good facilities and bedroom. Breakfast was excellent and the host’s English was better than he let on. Highly recommend. Thank you Jean Charles.

We have just spent some incredible days at Le Petit Garros, everything was perfect. The kindness and sympathy of Jean Charles have accompanied us from the moment of our arrival, the house is beautiful, the rooms very beautiful and comfortable, the garden and the pool ideal for resting and the breakfast abundant and very complete. A great place to spend a few days and get to know the Bordeaux region. Totally recommended

If you are ever thinking of opening a B&B/Chambres d'Hotes then you should visit and spend a couple of nights with Jean-Charles and his team. You will learn perfection! The initial contact, the warm welcome, the exquisite detailing in the bedrooms, the fine furnishings, the simple but good breakfasts (with home-made jams) and the whole setting - perfect. Spotlessly clean, this is more like a small high-quality boutique hotel. Charming hosts for whom nothing is too much trouble. Only problem for me was that the wi-fi is too slow for serious work, but given you are 3km from 'civilisation' and it is provided by satellite, it can't be helped.

My wife and I had visited Bordeaux and the Dordogne Valley back in 2015, but we wanted to go back and spend more time in the St Emilion area as well as the Dordogne. So, we booked three nights at Petit Garros and enjoyed this portion of our trip immensely. Incidentally, the house sits approx 40-50m from the Dordogne.

The Petit Garros is an old building (somewhere between 300 and 400 years old), nestled in a vineyard. It is rustic, quiet and very much off the beaten path. In fact, I’m still thinking it was by sheer luck that we found the B&B at all…but we did of course. The Petit Garros is not in Fronsac per se, but about 2km beyond the Fronsac roundabout. If you pass a restaurant called Bord D’eau on the left, you’re headed in the right direction. There is a small sign on the left side of the road that is your turnoff. The house is approximately 40km from Bordeaux, 12 from St Emilion and 5 from Libourne.

First, let me say that Jean Charles and his son Charly are delightful hosts. Jean Charles was kind enough to do our laundry which helped a lot. They also have a ‘guard’ dog named Darling who is a beautiful and very gentle Golden Retriever. Breakfasts were simple and straightforward: bread, croissants, jam, yogurt, orange juice, tea and coffee.

Now, we were given the white room (couldn’t find Jack Bruce’s ghost anywhere), which was very comfortable, quiet and fully equipped. The only cautionary advice I would offer is that the white room has its bathroom upstairs within a loft inside the room. If you’re over 50, I would probably ask for a room on the ground floor or one without a bathroom loft. This is mainly because at 2am in the morning, getting up to use the bathroom is a bit of a challenge. It’s the first room we have ever had where the bathroom could only be reached by walking up a flight of steps. We survived though and now look back on it fondly.

All in all, I would highly recommend Petit Garros and hope to return one day.

Wow!.. Now that is a very nice and detailed comment! Thanks so much Joe for your kind words. You already know that you are most welcome back here as not only Jean Charles, Régine and me would be happy to see you, but also Darling would surely be happy to see you both! (as long as no picture in front of the house is involved as she's not too fond of them as you could experience ;)). Thanks again!

Lovely, authentic and tranquil manor house in the midst of vineyards on the banks of the Dordogne. We were made so welcome by Monsieur Jean Charles, our room was large and comfortable and the evening meal cooked by madame, was lovely. In all a perfect petit séjour.
