We spent one night at Cafetal Inn in May 2013 right after new owner purchased of the hotel. The place is relaxing, clean and has a great location to travel around - Coffee cooperatives, volcanos, waterfalls. We still tell stories about outstanding mango and watermelon juices we tasted at Cafetal. Wish all the best to the owners.

We enjoyed our 2 nights here. The fresh cool air was a relief after being in the city. Rooms were kind of basic, very clean. Janet & Ella were very accommodating & kind, even cooked us dinner. And they played some great jazz music! The grounds were beautiful.

Our stay was arranged by the motorcycle touring company so I'm not sure on how they charge. Our stay was great from start to finish. Rustic but clean rooms and the breakfast was always great. The three sisters that run it are always pleasant and always on top things. The weather been great and almost perfect round the clock. The...

I stayed at El Cafetal Inn with my husband and teenage kids, after staying a couple of days at another hotel in San Jose. We loved the charm of the Inn and its staff, the tropical gardens, excellent food and how easy it was getting from the Inn to see the rest of the country and back. A very safe...

I've stayed at this beautiful hotel in the past. I remembered the lush fabrics, the beautuful views abd the large swimming pool. Gone are the days of fully booked hotels...the poor economy has lightly touched this inn. Although there us no longer a poolside restaurant, the pool is just as lovely. Two sisters, Janet and Ella now operate this bed...

My girlfriend and I stayed here a few nights on our two week Costa Rica vacation. We absolutely loved this place and its location. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We showed up fairly late and unexpected (internet was down so they did not see my reservation). That being the case we didn't expect a home cooked meal but that's...

We stayed here for 2 nights on our self-arranged "taste of Costa Rica". After arriving at 4 PM they opened the kitchen and prepared a lovely meal, which we ate on the covered verandah in the pouring rain! Apparently they are used to this! We enjoyed our time here, even though we were disappointed that the coffee plantation and restaurant...

Stayed here one night in July after a week in the Caribbean rainforest and just loved it. I've read the comments below and can tell that things have changed with the new management in place. I can't remember the manager's name at this point but she is just lovely and super helpful. We showed up at a random time and...

Hotel under new management. Staff extremely reliable. Been coming here for a while. Best year yet. New lunch - diner available with beer and wine, Faith was a superb host! It is quiet and restful. I have also used this hotel as a home base because of it proximity to the Santamaria San José airport. It is close to Aténas,...

Mr Rodrigues goes out of his way to help and accommodate guests! Breakfast, that is included, is delicious. The views from the finca is superb. The property is lush with exotic trees, birds and the sound of the river on the bottom of the hill is calming.

“Rooms in the pool building are separated from the main house by a steep, long set of stairs. Room 16 in the main house looked like a great room for just a couple, round windows and a larger than average balcony. Room 18 fit our family of 4 perfectly and had loads of storage/closet space”
