Centre of what? It's about a 10 minute walk down the beach (or along the road) to Bohput town (Finsherman's village is great) in the other direction it's about 5 minutes or so to Maenam town. The main towns of Samui (Chewang and Lamai) you can only get to by taxi/bus - about 15 minutes if the traffic is good.
