Following up on my previous review, I returned to Kuata this month with my extended family. Even better than before! Gareth has further improved the accommodation, with en suites on the beach front safari tents. The larger tents hold up to 6, and are served by a stunning new amenity block. Also the food was very good. The absolute highlight...

The location is visually spectacular - the water is like glass, and you can paddle board or kayak around the island to experience the reefs under your own adventure. Shark snorkeling was amazing, and the accommodation itself, though quite basic, was very pleasant (luxury tents on the beach!) There were a number of factors that made the stay disappointing. The...

Stopped here for two nights especially to do the shark snorkeling trip, from the time we were greeted with the locals singing to us to the time we left it was wonderful. Staff super friendly the best of the three islands we stopped at. Had a great time relaxing in the pool, sipping cocktails (great prices) at the bar and...

We had a great time visiting Barefoot Kuata after diver friends in Sydney recommended the island. You can snorkel just off the stunning beach and see lots of coral and fish. The diving was great and the dive crew were all really friendly. The food was absolutely amazing - the best in Fiji! We had a really relaxing stay and...

I stayed at Barefoot Kuata for three nigths. The accommodation (beach dorm), staff, food, activities and just the whole location were fabulous. What stood out was the Awakening Shark Dive. I went diving three times and it was absoluty exceptional. The instructor provides a long, informative and personal briefing to every single diver. He created a fantastic, insightful yet easy...

I went to Barefoot Kuata Island primarily for the shark dive they offer, and it did not disappoint!! But I wish I could have stayed longer than just one night because there was a lot more that I would have liked to do there! The night I went happened to be the lovo dinner night, so I got to try...

Paradise does not adequately describe this place. I could not stop smiling as we headed towards the shore, seeing a man in tribal dress standing on a very high rock, and then being welcomed with music and singing on the beach. As we pulled up on the beach a school of sardines swimming near the boat all jumped out of...

We visited barefoot kuata after much research into the island, we were not disappointed. We decided to stay in a dorm, no better way to meet many people this way. Our dorm was clean, tidy and spacious and was situated right on the beach amazing. The food was a buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner. There were lots of variations...

Hi Katrina, Thanks so much for your feedback. We find it valuable in gauging whether we are getting things right and good to see you found your stay with us on the whole enjoyable. We do organize free walks to the caves where you can learn more about the history of the island and how locals used to live here...

Forget typical expectations and ideals of an affordable adventure island..this amazing gem of a destination will exceed and surpass all. Unique in every detail.. the memorable first welcome with the lone warrior dancing atop a magestic rock in the distance, and the guitar-playing and singing traditional troupe awaiting you on the beach with their bold Bula chant to kick off...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Now part of the Barefoot Collection, Barefoot Kuata Island is about the feeling of freedom and living in harmony with our environment. We don't refer to our island as a "resort". Our eco-lodges are about living simply and sustainably. Rather than a tourist destination run by technology, Kuata is run by the warmth of its' people and the beauty of the environment. Our island is deliberately uncomplicated, unfussy and unpretentious. The breath-taking coral gardens, situated just off the coastline are amongst the finest in the world and allow you to snorkel right from the beach. We offer visitors a tranquil environment and our eco-lodge is the perfect destination for nature lovers in search of a one of the few Fijian islands unspoiled by man. Guests can expect unparalleled snorkelling excursions with reef tip sharks, beautiful coastal and forest trails, visits to nearby Fijian villages, kayaking...the list is endless. Step onto our island and lose yourself in the world of Blue Lagoon and Castaway. Settle into "Fiji Time," and you'll come to discover a virtual treasure trove of things to explore - both on land and in the surrounding waters. ... more   less
