A really wonderful stay at the beautiful albergo Felicin. We felt very much at home right from the start. Very clean room with nice bathroom - and a beautiful look over the vinyards. We had dinner in the restaurant on the terrasse twice, and it was excellent both times. Service is warm and efficient, I can highly recommend this beautiful spot.

We had dinner at da Felicin, sitting outside under the grapes. We choose the chefs menu. The food was marvelous! Very tasty. The food was pared with good wines. The atmosphere is lovely and everyone is friendly. We wondered why this restaurant was not in the Michelin guide, because we think it’s star-worthy. It seems the chef refused this, because he wants to keep it a family restaurant. Anyway…it was the best restaurant we visited in Italy so far!

We had a fantastic experience at this cozy hotel. With a lovely view from the terrace where we had breakfast and dinner and also from our balcony. The food is very good and the staff were as helpful and nice as we could wish for. Conveniently also with parking. The village is super nice and a good starting point when you are in Piedmont.

Second time staying at Da Felicin and we absolutely loved it. The staff/owners are so hospitable, friendly and caring. The place is incredibly comfortable, intimate and relaxing. The food is beautiful, both breakfast and dinner. Incredible, deep wine list. The views wonderful. Monforte is small but bustling with many osteria. Do not miss Da Felicin - it's a classic of the Langhe and about my most favorite small hotel/inn experience anywhere.

There is no finer place to stay in the Barolo wine region than the Felicin Ristorante Albergo Dimora Storico in the breathtakingly beautiful town of Monforte d’Alba which is just 4 miles from the famed wine towns of Barolo (noted for its great Nebbiolo-based wines) and Dogliani (noted for its wonderful Dolcetto wines) but also just 9 miles from bustling Alba and another 9 miles to Barbaresco, also noted for its Nebbiolo-based wines. But the Felicin family hotel, offering stunning views of the vineyards below, is as remarkable as the wines that this commune produces. This 4-star hotel in the Felecin family for nearly 100 years is located just steps from the town’s plaza in a town of less than 2000 residents. Nino and members of his family were incredibly hospitable, making us feel very much at home, while Nino surprised us at each meal with his superb culinary skills. After some 30 visits to Italy, this hotel/restaurant in every respect is among the finest in all of Italy. Would we visit again? Of course, we would. Sonoma Tom

We had one of the apartments up the hill from the main hotel, where the restaurant is located. What a fantastic place! The apartment had a functional kitchen, dining area, living room, bedroom and luxurious bathroom, all very comfortable and decorated beautifully. The views from the balcony of the mountains are astounding. It's a short and very enjoyable walk down to the center of the village and the hotel (where we went for breakfast). The walk back up gives your thighs and lungs a bit of a workout, but if we could do it -- we're in our mid-60s -- most people can. Also, if you walk two minutes up the hill from the apartment, you reach a path into a beautiful forest. The village of Monforte d'Alba has to be one of the most enjoyable of all the villages in the Barolo area, just the right size -- small enough to have a friendly village feeling but big enough to have shops, restaurants, cafes and so on. It's also a great base for exploring the Barolo wine region. We were there in the fall, and the pool was closed, but during the summer the pool area -- also with views of the mountains -- would be a real addition to the experience. Breakfast every morning was wonderful, and the staff were very indulgent of our desire to eat outside (despite the cold), since we were being ultra-cautious about reducing exposure to Covid-19. The main albergo/hotel is beautiful, and the dining room (where everyone else sat) was lovely. It's a fabulous place to stay and we recommend it highly.

Where do I even start? I suppose with a huge GRAZIE MILLE to the fantastic staff – Nino, Stefania, Silvia (I hope I've spelled your names correctly!), and the rest of the amazing hospitality team at da Felicin. Here was our experience: I stayed at da Felicin with my partner this past August. We arrived late – both to our check-in, and for our reservation at the restaurant (and we had the last reservation of the night!). The owner's son greeted us with enthusiasm and introduced us to his father, Nino, who offered to take us to our room. We had booked the Boeri Panoramic Suites (which I'll talk more about shortly), which are located up a hill about 250 meters from the Ristorante and main section of the hotel. Nino asked for our car keys and personally drove us up to our room. We chatted a bit on the drive – I told him how excited we were to stay at Da Felicin, and specifically how excited we were to try their signature dish – an unfathomably thin-cut pasta bolognese. Nino asked us if we'd like for him to choose our food order for our table, and we enthusiastically agreed. It was the correct decision. Fast-forward 20 minutes to dinner, where my partner and I were joined by two of our friends. Despite this meal being 3 months ago – and us having drank one bottle of Barolo EACH throughout the course of this meal - I still remember it vividly. It was an absolute delight and one of the most fun, delicious meals I have ever had. The meal started with a gazpacho – a dish that I don't typically love. However, this one was exceptional – the flavors were perfectly balanced, the textures were exciting, and the soup was aromatic and delicious. This was followed by beef tartare, covered in black truffle shavings. Next, came a plate arranged with delightful morsels of soft cheese with roasted asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, herbs, and a drizzle of oil. Every dish was brought out ceremoniously, with 4 servers at a time – each holding one dish – and coordinating their timing of placing the food on the table synchronously so that each member of our party received their dish at the exact same time. It was a lovely detail. Despite this extremely formal, nearly ritualistic style of service, the tone and attitude of the staff was anything but pretentious. They were energetic and could tell that we were having an awesome time with them. At this point in the meal, we were the last people at the restaurant – and we still had 2 courses to go. The staff never made us feel rushed – they cared deeply about our experience. Nino continued to be a presence for us throughout the night, too – he would come out in between courses to chat with us and see how everything was, which was really cool. The next course was the legendary, thin-sliced bolognese. It lived up to all of my expectations. I have no idea how they were able to make the pasta that thin and cook it with such delicate precision. The main course was a magnificent steak, seared on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Again, this was one of the best meals I've ever had. Now, to talk more about the accommodations – the room at the Boeri Panoramic Suites was unbelievable. First, it was huge – way bigger than we thought it would be. It had a kitchenette and a bathroom with two doors – one that separated the bathroom from the living room, and a second door that separated the toilet and sink from the shower. It was luxurious without pretension. And, my god, the VIEW from our room truly lived up to the "Panoramic" part of the suite's name. The balcony was HUGE, too. The pool was awesome. It was only waist deep, but cold. It was the perfect pool to sunbathe at – when you feel too warm, just dip into the water to cool off, then return to the lounge chair. The pool was also built into a plateau in the hillside and was "infinity" style – so there was no visible edge. It was a stunning view. Which brings me back to my final point about da Felicin – the value. For two nights, we paid less than 350 Euro. I've paid twice that for hotels that haven't even come close to this level of beauty, comfort, or hospitality. Our 5 (or 6?) course meal for 4, plus 4 bottles of spectacular DOCG Barolo wine came to 580 Euro. You cannot beat that price for the experience we received. I would return here in a heartbeat, and extend my stay much longer than just two nights. If you're traveling to the Barolo region and you don't stay here, or your don't eat here – you've completely blown it. Thank you once again for the unforgettable experience, da Felicin!!!

We are an American family that stayed at the Felicin in October and we loved it. We stayed in the Palazzo Boeri building in a apartment unit with one bedroom and a loft, kitchen, and dining room, which was perfect since we have three children. We loved our stay here and will return. The unit was clean and spacious and had wonderful views over the town and valley. Monforte is in the Barolo wine region so the wineries and events are all around you here. It's about a 20 minute drive to Alba, 40 to Asti, and about 2 hours to Milan. We love Piemonte in so many ways. The countryside, the wineries, the food. It's just such an incredible place. All of this was represented in the Felicin. The main hotel has a nice and comfortable lobby and restaurant. In the morning it has a good breakfast service and in the evening it is one of the top restaurants in the area with a wine list to match. The Palazzo Boeri building is a short walk from the main hotel, and has a great set up. It has a pool and the deck has amazing views over the valley. And even though it was their busy time of year, there was enough parking, which is a big item in many towns. I believe that they have a small fitness center as well. The food was great, the staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful. We can't wait to go back.

It’s not easy to be critical of a place that is welcoming and friendly. It has a quite traditional dining room - in fact I had asked to sit outdoors but they said it was closed because of rain that never arrived the entire evening I was there. (By contrast I once was at a restaurant who, also expecting rain, sat us outside until the rain arrived). A pity because a reason to choose this place is the great view out from Monforte. I chose the fixed menu because it included a few appetisers but this was a mistake as they were quite unimaginative. The main courses were cooked with skill but again nothing memorable and whilst I usually keep a meticulous record of what dishes I’ve eaten, not this night. I want to be kinder, and it was busy so many might disagree with me, but this wasn’t for me.

We booked one night stay and one dinner for 2 adults and one 7 years old at Felicin. It was a perfect stop on our tour through Italy. After a long and hot trip in the car, we enjoyed the spacious cool of our room in their lower situated villa, complete with spectacular views from the large terrace. We then walked through the village and further up the hill to their 3rd lodging facility, which has a cutting-edge luxury infinity pool that provides an even more stunning view over vineyards and fruit orchards for seemingly hundreds of kilometers. In the evening we had very enjoyable meal in their restaurant, guided by the head chef who showed us their wine cellar and fed us his favorite treats from the chefs menu. Everyone was very friendly, great value for money. Also we enjoyed the keen eye for design details the family has, from the interior and furnishings to the silverware and selection of art and photography books throughout the property.
