We had such nice stay at pedacito del cielo with my girlfriend and our baby. The huts are so beautiful and cosy and so well integrated in the beautiful environment the place offers. You can just chill out on the terrasse watching monkeys, iguanes n the trees and listening many beautiful exotic birds singing. Marco, the owner is such good...

What a wonderful atmosphere in the middle of nature. The accommodation is good, and the owner is a really amazing nice guy. On top of that one of the best cooks in Costa Roca. We had amazing dinners and lunches. You feel like at home!!

Quelle découverte! One or the best place we visited in Costa Rica!! The bumpy road really worth it (but be sure to have a GPS i twill be much more easier and less stressful to find), you will find a really peaceful place with all wood bungalow, amazing food (thanks to Marco, the owner and cook!) and animals all around....

We heard about this hotel on a special offer and decided to go for one night. The road is TERRIBLE, it took us around 4 hours to get there from San Jose. I'm honestly surprised they're listed as a 5-star hotel. The hotel facilities aren't as nice as expected, specially the room. There are scratch marks on the floor and...

Tucked away up at the northeast of CR, at the end of a 2-3 hour bumpy road is this gem of an ecolodge. We were greeted by Pablo, with the cliche "Welcome to paradise". In this case, though, it is well-deserved. Stunning location, beautiful lodges, jaw-dropping wildlife and superb food courtesy of Marco, the owner. Jungle and river trips both...

We have made numerous trips to Costa Rica since 1980, but this was our first stay here...and we hope it won't be our last. As I write, I would love to transport myself back to the restaurant with its wonderful views of the San Carlos River and amazingly tasty food prepared by Marco and his excellent staff. What a heavenly...

We spent 3 nights and 21/2 days here but would have enjoyed staying longer. We are birders and came to the area to explore both flora and fauna. Hosts are gracious and made us feel both welcome and valued. Owner Marco is an excellent cook and readily accommodated our food preferences; food was tasty, enjoyable and attractively served in open...

This place is really worth the bad road you need to navigate to get to it. Host Pablo and crew make you feel right at home. You will love the boat trip to Boca San Carlos and all the different animals you will be able to spot.

Although it is remote and a long drive over a gravel road it is worthwile. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel at home. And all those beautifull birds!! The food was great and the rooms were ok.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were impressed by the friendliness of Carlos and his team. The nature walks with Hugo were memorable- he knows so much and has a very modest way to share his huge Expertise.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The translation of Pedacito de Cielo is "Little Piece of Sky." This 300 hectare site situated on the San Carlos River in the San Carlos region is run by Marco Tulio Hidalgo. He is eager to share his little piece of heaven with you. The lodge sits right above the San Carlos River and private bungalows come equipped with a lounging area and a porch overlooking the river. There are two decks that sit high above the Rio San Carlos and offer great views of the river, the setting sun and makes for easy birding. In the evenings, the calls of both the Scarlet and Great Green Macaws are heard, and both are frequently seen. There are gardens, fruit and fruit trees right outside of the individual cabins that attract honeycreepers, orioles, oropendolas and even toucans right to your door. The reserve for the lodge is actually about 2 km from the lodge. At the reserve there are a number of trails that take you through quality rainforest and native species reforestation plantations. There is also a separate lagoon to explore. There are covered decks and trails for you to bird from at the lagoon. The forest hosts hard to find species such as the Dusky Antbird, while the lagoon is home to rare species such as the Rufescent Tiger-Heron. Don Marco can set up a ride to take to you to the reserve, but the birding along the road is great on its own. You are welcome to bird without a guide; however Hugo is the guide available to take you to and through the reserve. Although Hugo does not speak English, he is able to communicate in one form or another, and visitors enjoy his company. In addition to birding and hiking, horseback riding tours and tours of the San Carlos River via kayak are available. Another highlight at Mi Pedacito de Cielo is undoubtedly the delicious cuisine cooked mostly with fruits and vegetables grown right on site. Marco is extremely accommodating and will do just about whatever you need to make your stay enjoyable. ... more   less
