Yes the hotel does need some improving, yes the rooms were basic, yes some rooms do overlook the street, yes the swimming pool is more like a puddle but it is a cheap hotel in one of the most spectacular places on the island surrounded by fantastic bars, cafes and clubs without being frequented by people intent on getting as drunk as possible, take...

A basic hotel, looking a little tired. However apart from the receptionist who ignored us when we arrived- , the staff were friendly and hard working and it was clean and functional. Food was OK but if I ever return I would opt for room only and eat in some of the many places nearby. It is in a great...

We've been staying in El Medano for 30 years, sometimes in the Hotel Medano and we have just come back from there. It is just as people say, a friendly, unpretentious place in a unique location, set on the foreshore. Always book a room on the west side with a balcony and views of the beach and the square. When...

Having just had three weeks at this hotel, I have to say that I never encountered a grumpy receptionist - nor any other grumpy member of staff, come to that; nor one liable to sneezing and using her sleeve as a handkerchief. I must have been lucky. Previous reviews mention the pros and cons of this hotel, which I would...

We first stayed in Hotel Medano in 1987 returning in 1988 and 1989. Having not been there or to Tenerife for 24 years we were a little apprehensive. The hotel has had an extension built on since the 80s in the same style but the pool is very small and challenging. Not in direct sunlight so does not heat up...

We were greeted by a grumpy receptionist who sneezed over us and the telephone. She then proceeded to wipe her nose with her sleeve before instructing us we had 5 minutes before the restaurant closed. Meals were taken in 3 shifts and the " restaurant" resembled a school canteen of 50 years ago small bare tables in rows.Self service meals...

Spent three night here in December 2012. On our arrival the reception area was most impressive and the receptionist most helpful. We found the rooms very uninviting and minimal but they were clean and the beds were comfortable. Was woken on each night by noise either in the hotel or outside in street. The bathroom was a little sad and...

10 minutes by taxi from south airport. In small town right on beach, very small scale tourism. Friendly staff Good buffet dinner and breakfast, fine for 2/3 nights but would be tedious for a week. Several restaurants in town.

Spent a good week here 13th November 2012. The hotel rooms are OK, not luxurious, but functional. Make sure you ask for a balcony on booking, many rooms have none. Meals were OK with 3 seating times for dinner, kind of like school dinners with rows of tables with 2 seats. You need to collect table cover and cutlery and...

This is our second time in El Medano. The location is the best thing about this hotel. (We booked with Travel Republic who were faultless.) You are on the amazing beach for safe swimming and sunbathing within three steps of the main door. The hotel itself is a no frills hotel with basic rooms but super clean, fresh towels every...
