It’s a specific hotel, great service, but mostly it’s an hotel combine a thermal , botanic garden , 5 stars hotel ... located in one amazing village, Furnas . The restaurant of the hotel are well known for unique Azorian food , and around the hotel you can find many different restaurants in less then 500m . It’s possible to spend a day just on thermal(inside botanic garden) and you can have a meal in the restaurant.

An unbelievable visit with family with emphasis on knowing something about Portugal which is largely unknown to many including our own party. I excepted nothing but stress traveling with my wife, daughter, son-in-law and their 2.5 year old daughter our only grandchild. The weather on arrival at the airport in São Miguel Ponta Delgada was not welcoming with gusts of wind and torrential rain and the drive to Furnas was scary to say the least. Arriving to the hotel was an enormous surprise as we were welcomed in a cozy and warm reception the rooms was what I would characterize luxurious warm and welcoming with all amenities including an excellent working WiFi. The restaurant was not disappointing, the menu short but the excellence of the kitchen and the service in the restaurant was just as good as any five star establishment. The visits to the outdoor enormous thermal swimming pool was a new and comforting experience. The sites on the island with its many dormant volcano craters was pockmarked by natural hot springs and boiling surface mud and water holes and the vegetation was lush and reminded me of Jurassic Park. No wonder the island is called the green island, it was green pastures everywhere! An unforgettable mini holiday that certainly recharged my own batteries and my old bones! We had delightful stay here once before on a one-night stopover, and when we decided to take a short, 4-night vacation in March, Terra Nostra seemed like a good place to revisit. We couldn't have been happier. The reception staff was friendly and efficient, and our room was clean and comfortable, with many lovely amenities. (Tip: the garden-view rooms with balcony are worth a few extra dollars.) Parking is a bit scarce, but we were always able to find a spot. One special note on the service - it was my birthday on one of the nights we were here, and we arrived in our room that evening to find a bottle of champagne - such a nice touch. The indoor and patio bars were absolutely perfect - great drinks and food, and the staff really goes the extra mile (a special thank you to Frederico and Enio, who went out of his way to make us feel welcome and even worked with me on my terrible Portuguese). The prices are not out of the ordinary for a bar in a nice hotel - except the high-end cocktails, which are quite pricey but also quite good. The restaurant was a great place to start our day every morning, with a fabulous buffet offering anything one might want, all delicious and very high-quality. One of the highlights of the trip was the one night we ate dinner in the restaurant. We did the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings, and it was amazing. A great value, with a lot of locally sourced food and wine, and friendly, professional but enthusiastic service. I wish I could remember the name of the maitre d'/head waiter, he was outstanding. We spent many happy hours walking around the gardens, and took a free guided tour of them one morning, which was very interesting. And the pools! So nice to be able to walk out of the hotel room and right into a lovely thermal pool or jacuzzi. Furnas is lovely and easy to explore on foot, and well situated to visit anywhere on São Miguel, so Terra Nostra will be our base any time we visit here.…

Words will never be enough to describe the experience of staying at this hotel. The staff of this hotel is the best we have ever met. From the front desk to cleaning, from the restaurant to the bar, everyone we met is extremely professional, polite, empathic, and helpful. Everything is for the pleasure of the guests. Everything works as if it was a clock well tuned. We left the hotel already missing the people we met. Thank you very much for providing such a great experience for me and my wife.

Our flight arrived at 6:15 am and the transportation arranged by the hotel was waiting for us. The ride from PDL to the hotel took about 40 minutes but our driver was very friendly and the time went quickly. Our room wasn’t ready but we left our luggage at the desk and walked around the garden. By 8:30 we were in our room, taking a nap. The hotel is elegant,the room nicely furnished and comfortable. It’s so nice to be able to access the garden and the thermal baths just by walking out a door. Highly recommend the baths—perfect temperature and very relaxing. The gardens are amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Unfortunately, the island does not provide public transport convenient for tourists. However, staying in the town you can explore the town itself by foot. There is enough attractions for 2-3 days or more if you like hot springs pools and walking around the lake. But the island has many places you can reach only by car or tour bus. Not sure if the hotel organise the trips but maybe they can contact to tour agency.
Yes. You get unlimited access to the hot springs and botanical gardens. We went to the hot springs very early in the morning and also late in the evening.
Also they have large comfy grey robes that you can wear to and from the hot Springs. It’s a fantastic hotel and I’m so glad we stayed there.
I traveled to five of the nine islands and I never saw topless sunbathers, so my answer would be probably not.
There was a large board made terrace outside but no sun beds as the weather was too cool for sunbathing. But I am pretty sure they have them in season!
You have the right you have tickets for the park if you only have lunch at the hotel, I paid €20 as a deposit and at the reception gave me two tichect to use the park as long as I want during the day. And make sure you have lunch at the Terra Nostra hotel the food it's just sober and amazing the best I had so far. 5 stars it's not enough to rate the restaurant, from service to staff and food quality, if I could I would give 10 stars.
