Kapsaliana Village Hotel is special in so many ways. The location is peaceful and beautiful; the painstakingly restored village is full of character (and comfort), the food is exceptional, and the staff is lovely. My husband and I stayed for five nights in the beautiful...More
What a find! We had lunch here 2 days in a row after visiting the archeological site at Eleftherna. The food is excellent, maybe the best in Rethymno. Particular standouts were the soups and the "deconstructed" lemon tart. Also amazing was the selection of Greek...More
Obviously, everyone has different views and perspectives of their rooms; service etc. I was part of reviewer Ed Cymru's wedding party so understand the issues he's brought up especially the pool bar and G&Ts. The staff were so friendly and helpful but they could probably...More

From the Kapsaliana Village Hotel you can cross the island to the south coast through the Amari valley which is a very nice drive. You will end op whether in Spili or even in Aghia Galini which is close to Phaestos and Matala. It takes maybe a bit longer then when you pass from Rethymnon but it is worthwhile. You need 1 1/2 hour more or less.
