We spent 4 days in Calhau Grande, from the warm welcome to the end of our stay it was a four-star experience! The location is perfect for discovering the west cost, the quality of the accommodation exceptional and the view on the ocean, during breakfast and dinner: amazing ;)! By walking 20min distance you can find a nice supermarket with...

We booked the Calhau Grande Cottage for one week and were extremely pleased with it. The cottages have lots of character and are nestled in the hills near Arco de Calheta, where they provide a good base to explore the western side of the island. Our cottage was very comfortable with two bathrooms (one upstairs and one next to the...

Calhau Grande is very well located, in a part of the island where the weather is sunny. The ocean view is just amazing. This place is very quite, clean, charming and maintained. Rooms are fully renovated and equipped with all you need in holidays. The pool is perfect. I don't want to forget Sofia and her mum for their hospitality...

Overlooking the ocean relax with a glass of madeira in front of the sunset on the little terrace of your small one room cottage. A well hidden gem with all comfort and a swiming pool, nice, cool and relaxing!

We spent one week in the cottage Levada. Sophia, the manager, was always ready to help out whenever we had some question and gave us good information and tips about the island. Calhau Grande is a small family run property and the cottage Levada suited our needs very well. We wanted a small and cosy place outside the busy town...

We spent 5 unforgettable days in cottage Tenda. Everything was - if its possible - much better, than we expected based on the photos: the swimming pool, the garden, flowers everywhere, the cottage! We enjoyed the ocean-view all day long - also during cooking and washing dishes :) From every part of Calhau Grande the is a stunning view to...

Everything was good. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful view from window. Very relaxing place. There is a market about 300 meters from the cottages and the supermarket is a 10 minute drive. Funchal is a 30 min drive.

We stayed at Calhau Grande for three nights and it was really different from big impersonal hotels, there are about six small studio villas, one two bedroom villa and Eira where we stayed has an upstairs bedroom. All have a terrace with beautiful views overlooking the sea and barbeque which we used everynight, a supermarket which sells fresh fish, meat,...

Such a beautiful place where waking up is something you love to do. You can even do a barbecue if you want. If I have to be critical I would advice Sofia to install some ventilation because it can be really hot
